Welcome to PlanetLightworker Magazine! THE BIRTH OF PLANETLIGHTWORKER.COM e-zine was timed consciously to coincide with the auspicious influences afforded by the great solar eclipse, which occurred on August 11th, 1999. Although the idea for the magazine was born out of the collective vision of several people who shared a common ideal, credit for the actual fact of its existence really belongs to two people: our former proprietors, Steve and Barbara Rother, who funded the necessary web space, software and technology with which to build and maintain it, and then gifted it to New Earth Publications in August of 2003. Several years ago, when Steve first started channeling, he and Barbara launched our sister site, www.lightworker.com with the intention of creating an internationally accessible Light Community in Cyberspace that would emulate the new Planet Earth as we move from a paradigm of "follow the leader to follow your own heart". Soon after, the notion was conceived of producing an online metaphysical/spiritually-oriented magazine that would seek to fulfill several agendas. In keeping with the Rothers' philosophy, the magazine would, first and foremost, provide a space where all flavors of the truth could be freely expressed without fear of spiritual bias or censorship. Secondly, it would provide a means to encourage people to turn their individual dreams into reality by assisting and encouraging them to develop new skills in such areas as web development and design, as well as provide a platform for aspiring writers to gain confidence and exposure in writing for a professional medium. Thirdly, the magazine would seek to provide an eclectic mix of informative, enlightening and/or entertaining articles that would hopefully serve the interests of and draw together a wide variety of spiritually inclined people of all nationalities. Of course, it goes without saying that none of this could be achieved without the participation of a whole host of highly talented and deeply committed volunteers who have selflessly donated their time, energy, and skills to producing each issue of the magazine every month for over 8 years now. As is the natural way of things, some of these people are no longer able to play an active role in the production of the magazine - some have gone on to write and publish their own books, some have developed a sufficiently large following to warrant the development of their own websites, while others have naturally and understandably moved on to accomplish their own career objectives. While it is always sad to say goodbye to people, nothing gives us more pleasure than to see people expanding their capabilities and successfully moving into their areas of passion. We deeply honor the work of everyone who has contributed to the magazine and will always remain grateful to all our volunteer staff - both past and present - for their invaluable contributions to the continuing growth and success of PlanetLightworker.
A British journalist, editor, and author, Sandie's work has appeared in numerous national newspapers and magazines in the UK and abroad. She has extensive experience in the British magazine publishing, advertising and direct marketing industries. In addition to conceiving, designing, creating and launching a number of new magazine titles and special edition supplements for a variety of publishing houses, Sandie acts as an editorial/marketing/publishing consultant to several of the largest and most successful Direct Marketing companies in Europe. The author of 6 books published by major international publishing houses, Sandie has appeared frequently on television in Great Britain, and has been interviewed on all the best known radio stations throughout the UK, including the BBC World Service. Her books have been translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese. A qualified hypnotherapist and certified NLP practitioner, Sandie regards her personal quest for enlightenment as having commenced virtually the day she learned to phrase her first question and likely to continue unabated until the day she leaves this planet. In the meantime, she is still marveling at the way synchronicity has led her from England to California, where, despite missing her family and grown up children tremendously, she is delighted to find herself being given the opportunity to help realize the collective vision of the very special people involved in PlanetLightworker.com.
Chinking the spaces in between, she engages in an ongoing little exercise she likes to call Spiritual Cartography... studying the archetypes found (again and again) in Mythology, I-Ching, and Shamanism, also poking about in Astrology, Numerology, and Tarot, as well as study of the Chakras and eastern philosophies. She has come to consider Cooking and Gardening to be some of the richest meditational spaces anywhere. Over the years, she has lived all across these grand United States - from California to Georgia - currently calling Alaska home. When not up to her ears in the next issue of PLW, she can be found in her home office playing Oblivion (way to go Bethesda Softworks!), on her couch reading a good book (with her cats curled nearby), on her soap box talking about any one of a dozen esoteric subjects... or on her knees thanking GOD for the best life partner to ever embrace her nomadic heart.
Technical Assistant Gemma Hansen trained as a stage manager and lighting and recording technician at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), and has worked on various theatrical and musical productions both on the London "fringe" circuit as well as in large theatre venues. That said, Gemma considers her best and most worthwhile production to date - beyond the websites she also develops - to be the "making" of her two young children, Joel and Eliza. In addition to teaching them about life on planet Earth, and taking evening classes in sign language, Gemma handles a number of technical, artistic and administrative tasks for CNE magazine.
