Sun in Sagittarius Brings Philosophical Exploration

THE SUN COMPLETED its journey through the powerful, transformative sign of Scorpio, entering Sagittarius on November 22. A mutable, positive fire sign, Sagittarius is symbolized by the half-horse, half-man archer setting his sights high into the heavens. Following the challenges to personal transformation of the deeply emotional, magnetic and psychic sign of Scorpio, fiery Sagittarius takes us into the lofty realm of ideals, religion, and philosophy. If you were born with the sun, moon, or rising sign in Sagittarius, you have a lifetime of exploration into the meaning and purpose of life on earth.

December is the Month to Move Forward with Positive Changes

Last month, we experienced a retrograde (apparent backwards motion) Mercury, slowing our projects and plans so we could have time to review, re-assess, and make necessary changes and improvements. In the third week of November, Mercury, along with Uranus, the planet of radical change and awakening to higher states of consciousness, returned to direct motion. As these two planets gather speed in early December, we begin to move forward with our vision for change, and can now successfully implement future plans and actions.

The Full Moon Highlights Expansion and Success

On December 4, we have a full moon in Gemini, opposite the sun in Sagittarius, illuminating the theme of expansion into new directions. At the full moon, we are able to see clearly what changes we need to make in order to bring our vision into reality, and we are inspired to follow our principles and higher guidance. If we resist making necessary changes, we may experience pain or limitation, but if we follow our guidance, the full moon aspects help to catapult us to a new level of creativity and success.

Jupiter Enters Sagittarius, Opening New Avenues for Expansion

Sagittarius' ruling planet, Jupiter, completed its year-long transit of Scorpio on November 24, and has moved into its home sign of Sagittarius. For the past six months, Jupiter in Scorpio has been in a tense aspect with Saturn in Leo, and this has created much frustration in trying to move forward constructively in our lives. Difficult as it may have been at times, the Saturn-Jupiter aspect has forced us to question our life in terms of the role we play in the world, and required us to slow down enough to lay a proper and strong foundation. Jupiter is now released from the aspect with Saturn, and has moved into Sagittarius, inspiring expansion and new vision for our lives.

Grouping of Planets in Sagittarius Increases Energy for New Creation

December starts with several planets in Sagittarius, and by December 7, we have a stellium (large grouping of planets), including the sun, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Pluto, all traveling in Sagittarius. This triple-underscores the Sagittarian theme of freedom seeking, adventure, expansion, and the search for meaning through understanding higher principles. After many months of hard work and laying the groundwork, we begin to see clearly where we are going in life, and to embrace our new creation with joy and excitement.

New Moon in Sagittarius Brings Broad Scale Changes

On December 20, we have a new moon in Sagittarius, which interacts with the stellium of Sagittarius planets to set a theme of philosophical and spiritual inquiry for the coming four weeks, and for the coming new year. With the planet of change, Uranus, still interacting dynamically with the Sagittarius planets, some of our vision will be fairly easy to manifest, but some will require broad-scale changes. We must let go of the past, and of any habit or attachment that no longer serves us so we are free to create with a clear heart and aligned intention.

The Sun Enters Capricorn, Helping Us to Implement Our Vision

The sun leaves Sagittarius, entering Capricorn on December 21 at the Winter Solstice. Bringing a still point designed to give us a pause for reflection, the Winter Solstice gathers and concentrates energy for grounding and implementing all that was created, or harvested, during the Autumnal season. At the solstice, Venus and the moon align gracefully with the planet of change, Uranus, helping us to usher in a new year of enlightened creation. This holiday season, may we all be blessed with love, wisdom, and compassion for all others in our human family.

The past six-months' limitation on financial flow has been due in great part to your need to re-examine your purpose. The energy has now released, and it is possible for you to move forward with current goals, provided you have done the necessary soul-searching and re-alignment of purpose. The full moon brings a philosophical shift or spiritual awakening that helps to catalyze you in a new direction.

Long-standing issues with a mate or business partner can be resolved now, and you can begin to work together as a team if you will align your purpose and future goals. The full moon highlights your need to have clearly defined future goals, along with the discipline to work consistently to achieve them. As pressure is removed, your home and family life improves and finances flow more freely.

Over the past six months you have been challenged to change your life-style, and create new, healthy routines. As the planetary aspect releases this month, you realize that a positive life style supports you to have the discipline and the health and vitality to achieve your life-purpose. The full moon highlights your need for partners to be supportive as you use your ability to make long-needed changes in your career direction.

Saturn in your arena of money and values has created a six-month-long challenge for you to get organized, be purposeful, and increase self- discipline. This aspect has kept you focused on work, leaving little time or energy for play and creative pursuits, but it releases this month, taking much of the pressure off and leaving you free to have some fun. The full moon suggests a spiritual retreat for renewing your mind, body, and soul would be most helpful this month.

For the past six months, you have been in a bit of a "holding pattern" in terms of getting your objectives grounded and launched. The aspect responsible for that pattern has now released, bringing movement and greater freedom. Jupiter in Sagittarius adds inspiration and helps you to get your creativity flowing this month. The full moon in Gemini illuminates your future goals and long-term plans; avoid the trap of worrying how to finance your goals, just hold the vision clearly and consistently, and the way will appear.

You have been in a six month-long aspect of confronting old karma and emotional and psychological patterns that had been limiting clear communications. As that planetary aspect releases this month, much internal pressure is relieved, freeing you to enjoy your home and family life. The full moon, however, highlights marital issues, or issues with business partners calling for change that must be addressed.

Frustrating limitations on your future goals and plans get released this month, and you may be able to see the purpose for the past holding patterns. Hopefully, you have learned to use this powerful, concentrated energy to gain clarity and strength of purpose. The full moon highlights travel and mental or spiritual expansion, and you enjoy a busy and delightful social life.

Jupiter just left your sign, releasing the six-month-long tense aspect with Saturn that has been responsible for frustrating your plans for expansion. You still must give much time and energy to building your career or business, but if you have used the past constraints to grow in wisdom and gain clarity of direction, you will have success in moving forward now. The full moon highlights new business opportunities and financial increase.

The pressure to re-examine old religious or philosophical beliefs has been continual over the past six months, leading you to greater clarity and a fresh perspective on life. Your ruling planet, Jupiter, now enters your sign for the next twelve months, bringing a renewal of hope and optimism for your future. The full moon highlights a burst of creative energy that is inspired by a sense of new-found freedom.

Over the past six months, you may have experienced difficulty getting mobilized in the direction of your future aspirations, but that planetary aspect is now over, having fulfilled its purpose of getting you to do some deep soul-searching and re-evaluation of your goals. This year, you are completing a twelve-year cycle. As you are now preparing to create a new cycle, it is necessary to learn from, and release, the past before venturing forth. The full moon brings attention to your health, hopefully inspiring you to create new routines that bring greater vitality.

Tensions over finances with your mate or business partner begin to ease this month as you discover a mutually agreeable new direction. Existing circumstances of limitation will change rapidly once you are clear and aligned in your purpose. The full moon highlights creative projects, and amusement with children and friends. Participating in group events with a positive, or spiritual purpose will bring much inspiration.

As Jupiter leaves the square to Saturn and moves into Sagittarius, you have greater success implementing new health and life-style routines. You have been reviewing your philosophy and spiritual beliefs, leading you to a clearer sense of meaning and purpose in your life that helps you to move forward into new creation. The full moon highlights your home and family life, which will need some attention, as you are busy expanding your career this month.
