SITTING HERE WAITING
Like a worm on a hook
At least if I had with me
A really good book
The time wouldn't pass by
So very slowly
But I don't, so it is
I
think oh if only
If only I had something
To help pass the time
I so hate the waiting
Does this tree with its lime?
First in the autumn
Its leaves it must shed
Then comes the winter
When all seems quite dead
The spring comes
The seed blooms
Now the tree's full of fruit
Was the tree waiting?
This waiting me does not suit
Or does the tree just live
From day to day?
Not waiting, just watching
Oh that I may
Know the tree's secrets
Of how he can just be
Not pushing, nor pulling
Can I please have the key?
I've tried and I've tried
To learn this lesson of patience
To sit and love Now
Not force things or hasten
The bulbs that are not yet ready
To come out of the earth
But instead I sit and just wish
They'd already give birth
To make peace with waiting
I ask for wisdom to visit me
Wisdom it says
"Just be the tree
"You were right to consider
That the tree does not wait
It lives and it breathes
To it nothing is late
"What's here is here
And what's not is not
Just look at your life
And love what you've got
"What's meant to come will
And what's not won't
Why worry about timing?
We tell you please don't
"So too, what arrives in your life
Don't push it away
Don't say it's not time yet
I don't want to play
"Everything happens
For
a good reason
The timing is perfect
Like the turn of the season
"You will let go of the waiting
When you no longer do
When you let your life flow
And let it take you to
"The people and places
You are meant to see
When finally you learn
To just be the tree"
