ISSUES YOU SAY?
Oh those I've got plenty
Just browse around
You'll find more than twenty
I heal and release them
But more just pop up
Much they have taught me
I
now hold my cup
Under this tap
Of learning and growth
Issues? Don't hate them
Joy and pain they hold both
There's daddy and mommy
Divorced at age seven
And my grandfather who
Crashed his truck
And went up to heaven
Didn't tell no-one
He was gonna go
So we couldn't say bye
I guess how was he to know?
All of this taught me
Nothing lasts forever
You could have something today
Tomorrow it's gone like a feather
In life some you love leave you
Or even go die
But stronger and wiser you'll be
Once you've had a good cry
You'll know that
You'll never know
If this day will be their or your last
So you'll tell people you love them
And in this life have a blast
You'll follow your dreams
And finish your tasks
You'll start telling the truth
And stop wearing masks
Some people abused me
Those I thought I could trust
I learned one thing from that
In life you just must
Work out who loves you
Based on their actions
Words aren't enough
Nor the fact they're relations
Addiction to me was
A blessing a curse
I've been the one wounded
I've been the good nurse
I learned it's about a hole
We're just trying to fill
Some with food, some with people
Some with a nice pill
No matter the substance
It's the same form of abuse
Abuse to the self
It's like sticking a noose
Tight 'round your neck
And wondering why
Life feels like it's choking you
Sometimes so hard you could die
I learned from those I tried to save
You can only save yourself
You can't make others live the way you want
You can't make them take your help
You can only thrown down a rope
It's up to them to climb it
You'll only break your own back
If you insist on bending backward blinded
Blinded by the need to be
Somebody else's hero
Leave them to live they way they need to
Then a hero you'll be like Nero
So my issues you see have become my friends
Opening my eyes and my heart open wide
These issues they're here to teach us and guide us
Helping us over the great divide.
