For Discovering and Fulfilling Your Purpose In Life

Look to areas that have always been of interest to you.

Remember your childhood dreams and aspirations.

Remember the main role you played in the imaginary games you played by yourself as a child.

Ask yourself, "What would I really like to be doing with my life if money were not a factor?"

Review your life. Were there any major forks in the road? Are you glad of the choices you made? Is it too late to choose differently?

Still your mind and receive all new information that comes your way. Examine ideas to discover if they really are of interest to you.

Persevere. Once you have chosen to act on an idea, persevere. Be committed.

Keep improving. Learn from each step of fulfilling your destiny. Keep learning. Add the new learning to what you already know, thereby increasing your ability to move toward fulfilling your purpose for being here on mother Earth.

Realize you are always in a state of becoming. Therefore, use each day's experience to become more than you were yesterday.

Create an ideal image of yourself. Create a clear, strong thought of who you want to be and what you want to become. Use every experience to build your confidence, love, security, truth, value, discipline, receptivity, trust, determination and caring. Build your enlightenment.

Practice making clear mental images. Everything begins with a thought. Everything is created from thought. Therefore, control and direct your thoughts productively.

Eliminate all negative thinking from your consciousness. Negative thoughts and negative thinking only serve to hold a person back. Negative thinking slows one down and gets in the way of fulfilling one's destiny, one's purpose in life.

STAGES OF GROWTH

In order to understand and master the keys to purpose in life, one needs to know the stages of growth and their qualities. I wrote about these stages extensively in my book, The Stages of Growth.

There are four stages of growth. By knowing their qualities, one is able to determine what stage one is in and use that stage to the fullest.

The four stages of growth are:

  1. Infancy
  2. Adolescence
  3. Adulthood
  4. Wisdom

The qualities of the stage of growth known as INFANCY are:

Openness is a quality of infancy because the brain and conscious mind are new and the inner Self, the subconscious mind is eager to learn. There is an awareness of space for learning within the Self that needs to be filled.

Openness is the opportunity to receive all.

Absorption is a quality of infancy because there is a complete need to understand, accomplish and receive into the Self. There is a need to experience and receive the knowledge, understanding and wisdom from the experiences.

Absorption is the opportunity to receive and absorb the learning.

Innocence is a quality of infancy due to the fact that there is a void or lack of experience. There is an openness, a willingness to receive from all areas of experience of life and of existence.

Innocence allows the ability to receive without any fears or doubts to block receptivity.

Trust flows from innocence. Trust is a quality of infancy because trust is a natural part of expression, and trust promotes openness of Self.

Trust enables the Self to remain open to receive.

Love is a quality of infancy because love is the fuel that is at the core of all forms of growth. The essence of every child is permeated with love. Love powers the need to learn and grow rapidly. Infancy is the time of most rapid growth in the brain and body.

Love continues to permit there to be openness of the Self and to find joy in the learning.

Curiosity stimulates motion in order to have the experiences needed to receive the learning.

Receptivity manifests itself in all the qualities of infancy.

If you find yourself in a new experience, job, club or organization, remember to use these qualities of infancy. Be open to the experience and receive the learning.

In all four stages of growth, love is essential. To achieve the full manifestation and flowering of each stage of growth the open, nurturing quality of Love must be given, shared and received.

Infancy is a time of beginning. Each day is a new beginning. Each day is an opportunity for completion. Experience the joy of learning new things, receiving new ideas and loving life.

The qualities of the stage of growth known as ADOLESCENCE are:

Experimentation is a quality of the stage of growth called adolescence because at this stage some learning has already taken place. It is through experimentation that one learns the why and how of experience. One more clearly chooses and understands what is being learned.

Curiosity is a quality of adolescence as well as infancy because this is the action that stimulates motion of all forms.

Questioning is a quality of adolescence because the type and degree of questioning is in relation to the amount of information that has been accumulated. Questioning indicates a desire to fit ideas and concepts together, to understand how something functions.

Action is a quality of adolescence because this is the way one can produce experiences usable for learning. Motion towards needs, desires or goals enables one to move into the experiences needed in order to receive the learning.

Independence is a quality of adolescence. It is in this stage that the person is beginning to formulate an idea of Self. What has been learned stimulates the urge to understand more deeply the origin of Self.

Forming an identity separate from the parents
presents itself in the second stage of growth called adolescence.

The time of adolescence is a time of transition from existence in the imagination with full receptivity to more of the attention on worldly affairs. The adolescent has gained partial understanding of responsibility.

It is important that one understand purpose when moving into adolescence. Purpose eliminates the need for rebellion. When the child receives unconditional love from the parent, he or she builds security and trust.

The greatest way to cause the most rapid motion from adolescence to adulthood is gratitude and love.

The qualities of the stage of growth known as ADULTHOOD are:

Productivity is the hallmark of adulthood. The adult produces more than he or she consumes.

As the one in adulthood continues to be productive, he finds he can create value and worth in any situation, circumstance or environment at any time. This brings security.

Security does not come from what you can accumulate. Rather, security comes from what you can produce. Productivity comes from one's ability to continually create and add to what already exists in the environment.

The reason productivity is a quality of the stage of growth known as adulthood is because it is through the practice of complete receiving, absorption and experimentation that there is understanding of how ideas, thoughts and actions produce a certain result.

Security is a quality of adulthood because much of one's security is based on permanent understandings of Self and creation that continue to be built within the Self. This is the greatest productivity.

Action is a quality of adulthood because it is the motion of the mind that produces the experiences necessary to build permanent understandings. In order to receive the learning, you must place yourself in a position to receive the learning. This requires correct choices, will, imagination and intelligence.

Maturity is a quality of adulthood because much of maturity is a product of the growing awareness and trust that continues to be built as it relates to productivity and understanding.

The adult produces and creates. The greatest expression of adulthood is in giving to the world to uplift the consciousness of the planet. The adult is a creator.

The adult creates, builds and adds to what already exists. The adult is open to others, knowing that in order to give to others he or she must open the self up and give from the heart. For the heart is love. The heart gives and receives love. The heart is your center of permanent understandings stored in subconscious mind as permanent memory.

The qualities of the stage of growth known as WISDOM are:

Peace is a quality of the stage of growth known as wisdom because at this stage there is centeredness in the Self. There is an awareness of where one has come from. There is a still and disciplined mind in the present. It is through this state of awareness that peace is produced.

Longevity is a quality of wisdom because this is connected to what has been understood, given, and continued to grow through the results of one's efforts throughout the life.

Objectivity is a quality of wisdom due to the awareness and the building of understanding of Self as a unique individual yet intimately connected to the environment and all humanity.

Identity is a quality of wisdom due to the connectedness within the origin of Self, the essence of one's being which is I AM.

In order to achieve wisdom, it is necessary to teach the knowledge you have received and gained. Wisdom is caused by the willingness to give. As more knowledge is gained in adulthood and passed on or taught to others, the stage is set for the movement into wisdom.

As the one in wisdom continues to teach on a higher and higher level the complete flowering of and fulfillment of wisdom is achieved. This is the movement to enlightenment.

Life is full of opportunities. However, until we give freely we fail to recognize most of these. You don't have to wait until you are physically old in order to be wise. You can gain wisdom anytime you are willing to teach, share and give of what you have learned freely and without reservation, with an open heart and full of Love.

Thought to remember:
Develop purpose in order to be aware of the opportunities in life.

What to do:
Use the stages of growth to discover your purpose.
