Voices from the Dark
At the Universal Passing Over, 2006
B Y   E R I N   K E L L Y - A L L S H O U S E

DEATH IS NOT FINAL. If so, then what happens after death? Perhaps we come face to face with our God who welcomes us, gives us our life review then offers new possibilities of how to spend eternity; or perhaps our souls are transported to another realm, into new earthly creatures, or simply returned to dust.

Every culture has its own unique idea, perspective and reaction about death but in some belief systems death is not seen as the final stage of a soul. Death is considered to be the beginning or the awakening. According to spiritualist mediums, 'people don't die, bodies do'. So then, what happens to the lost souls?

Using gifts of clairsentience ("clear feeling" ability to sense when spirits are in a room) and clairvoyance ("clear vision"), twelve gifted mediums, bridging the gap between the two worlds, clasped hands in an inner circle at the first of its kind - the Universal Passing Over event on October 28, 2006 at a Las Vegas hotel - to find out. This international event was rooted with intention to generate a unified energy band of love and light to help lost souls cross into the light who were unable to do so for various reasons. Supported by an outer circle of both psychics and trance mediums, the group - joined by radio and TV with 3 other countries to honor the deceased through meditation - endeavored to assist souls still trapped upon the physical plane.

"Each of us felt the rising whirlwind of vibrational love as we sat together around the table," said Reno-based medium and US event organizer, Vickie Gay.

"We felt the vortex of loving energy emanating from our circle of love, then spreading throughout the United States and around the world for the purpose of freeing after-death souls who had been stuck on the earth-plane.

"We know that thousands, if not millions of these souls, are now free to decide whether to stay where they are or to head for the light that will guide them to the other side," said Gay.

For author and playwright Jennifer Dicamillo, "it was like a billion fireflies coming from dark places all over and the closer they got to the big light, the brighter they were until they joined the light and became strengthened by the light. I felt that these people had been lost or left out and they had not crossed over to where they needed to be." Decamillo said. "I was trying to send the message that we are all connected but some just forgot where they were. I was hearing 'I just forgot I belong to the light,' echoed back," Decamillo said.

The idea to plan for such an event came to UK based medium, and paranormal investigator, David Wharmby through a channeled message in March. He claims he received a sensation from spirit during a meditation circle and a physical phenomena occurred for him, urging him to aide the crossing over of the world's loved ones.

"I asked spirit, Why me," said Wharmby once he realized the magnitude of the message he received. The response Wharmby got from spirit was, "Because you listened ... Because you understood," he said. "It's a job of pure love and a stepping stone to the greater good through love and light." Wharmby felt compelled to gather spirit teams from the four corners of the world to make this possible, illuminating a path for aiding these souls.

Michael, a psychic practitioner from Las Vegas said he received many visions. "First, they were of Iraq and not just American soldiers," he said. "We hear nearly 3,000 soldiers were killed there, in reality, it's closer to half-a-million people. This is what I am receiving," he said. "The real amount of death there is unbelievable. When you have a situation where there's a huge amount of lives cut short - because every life, no matter how insignificant it seems, even a simple peasant in Iraq with no money who tries to get water from the river to feed their family - that person has a destiny, a spirit and things they need to accomplish in their lives and those destinies are cut short. When they are cut short, they are thrown into a situation where they have to cross over very suddenly," he explained. "They are not dying naturally, but from gunshots and bombings where, one moment, they're standing in their physical bodies and, abruptly, in the next they are out of their body. It can be very confusing. These spirits really do not know how to get from point A to point B."

These souls weren't prepared mentally to accept their death and a lot of them were still hanging on, Michael said. "They were resistant to crossing over until this energy came forward and explained to them that it's okay ... that they're going to continue on with their mission; that they are not done, but only have to be done now, temporarily."

Michael said he also saw the genocide that is happening right now with the babies and the children in Africa. "They are too young to understand," he said. "There are babies that are six months old to one-year-old and dying of Aids. I connected very strongly and feel they are completely confused why they have to cross over. I saw visions of toddlers crawling into the light and then finally feeling peace and happiness that they were going to be okay," he said.

When the meditation was over, Michael said he had the feeling he had left a funeral. "When you leave a funeral, having said goodbye to a spirit you usually have a sense of finality or closure. These spirits were neither given a funeral nor acknowledged in their death. For these spirits to feel free to cross over, they needed to hear from people around them - to hear acknowledgement that they existed and that it was now okay to go."

These chosen representatives from Canada, New Zealand, USA and the UK intend to again unify their energies as "one beacon of light" in three more Passing Over events planned to take place over the next six years.
