Your First Seven Years: A Metaphysical View
B Y  R E V.  F R E D  S T E R L I N G

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EXCERPT FROM Guide to the Unseen Self by Fred Sterling. It offers a unique understanding of early childhood development from a metaphysical point of view.

Year 1. The interesting part in the first year, my friends, is that you are meeting with your angelic guardians and guides to refine and define your blueprint—and all the while, you are stationary here on the Earth plane. This accounts for a newborn infant sleeping so much in that first year, allowing time to travel, refocus, and refine the blueprint.

I will give you an example. If it had been your plan to experience this lifetime in a female body, but lo and behold, you ended up in a male body, this would be one of the first things that you would want adjusted and re-aligned in your life plan. The lesson plans for this lifetime would remain intact, yet the way of achieving them would most likely need to be altered.

In the first year you also become more tuned into your mother and father in a different light; for remember, everything takes on a different focus in the air-breathing world as opposed to the water world of the womb. You no longer see only with the third eye, but with human eyes. You no longer feel the freedom of the light body, experiencing instead the constrictions of a physical body. Your entire cellular consciousness is adjusting to the Earth’s vibration.

Parents , if you have a baby that seems to cry a lot in the first year, it is labeled as being “colicky.” I think your baby might prefer to call it “regret,” having discovered that it cannot simply fly away at any moment as it might want. Each time the baby feels constrained, it tries to remember from seemingly long ago how things work in a body. This means that the first thing the baby wants to do is point at its mother and say, “I’m hungry.” Well, you know what sounds come out of the mouth, and you know the finger doesn’t naturally point very well. In fact, all five fingers go out at the same time. There is little control of the muscle patterns which were established in the blueprint. All this is a bit disconcerting as the baby ponders how it can move this process along at a more rapid rate. Always is the human experience in a hurry, isn’t it?

The first year, if you follow my numerology, is what I call “The God Year.” This year is when you experience not only a lot of interaction with the Creator’s Light but with all of the angelic forces. Most of you know that when you come to the Earth plane, you always bring a guardian with you. Some of you will even bring a pair of guardians with you. What you do not remember, however, was that for the first thirty or forty years of your life, you would lose sight of your angels and pretend that they did not exist. My friends, if you think it is difficult for you to be here, you should consider the angels’ side of the situation. Your guardian angels agreed to come here to be of service to you, only to find out that for the most part, you have ignored them.

What about the ego? As you get more comfortable with your physical body in your first year, the veils of your ego get stronger. You start to close the gaps that allowed you to travel quickly back and forth between the worlds. You spend more and more time in the body process, getting to know your parents better. You use your five senses at a much higher vibration, becoming familiar with how your parents look and smell.

Here is an example for those of you who are planning to have a child. With babies in the first year of their understanding, you want to be extremely delicate with their hands. Located in the very tips of their fingers is a highly activated cellular consciousness with which they scan and maneuver themselves around. Perhaps you have noticed that from the outset newborn infants will always reach out with their hands, seemingly searching for something. What the baby is actually doing is slowing down the use of the third eye (which is utilized for seeing the full visual of the world) and beginning to pretend it has limitations. So be very gentle and very careful with the baby in the first few weeks after birth as many of the adjustments to those limitations are made in the very tips of the baby’s fingers at that time.

By the way, for those of you who have the audacity to put little mittens on your newborn child, please know that this is most uncomfortable for babies. You may think you are protecting them from scratching and harming themselves. However, if you would converse with them instead, the likelihood is you wouldn’t have to put those boxing gloves on them, and they could have their hands free. Just take their tiny little wrists and hold their hands up to your face and converse with them. Let them touch you. And Dads, please shave, and get close enough so that they can inhale you.

Young children do need that physical contact of the human being, especially of the mother and father. You know the reason they like to be held close to your heart, don’t you? This is so they can feel the heart go thump, thump, thump—the same rhythmic sound they heard within the light process. As they come closer to Earth, they begin to hear the same sound and feel the rhythms of Earth, for it is the same rhythm as the heartbeat of the human world. Mother Earth has her own heartbeat, the human has its own heartbeat, and that is why the child is so secure when it is at the mother’s breast.

I know that many of you are thinking, “No, no. The child is so secure simply because it was in the mother’s belly hearing her heartbeat all that time.” That is truth. But it is also truth that in the light where the child’s spiritual light essence existed prior to entering into the birth process, that same identical sound was there. What is that sound? It is the sound of the evolutionary Earth.

Year 2. As you move into the second year of your life, you become much more aware of the duality presence of Earth. You realize that “up” has a “down” because you fall through space more often than not. Unless someone is holding onto you a lot at first, those little rubber legs of yours just turn into mush and down you go again.

Now, here is something fascinating to share. I cannot imagine anyone about to have a baby not wanting a copy of these words, so please listen to what I am saying. In your second year, you are also beginning to establish your communication skills with the Earth plane. You will find throughout your first year and into the second that you are developing your “eye conversations.” In other words, in your attempts to get others to communicate with you, you develop a way of speaking through your eyes.

At that age, you discover that human adults are not very cooperative because they are operating within their full ego veils, whereas yours are still at a very thin, light vibration. Your communicative skills are beginning to develop and you are eager to enter into conversation with your parents. If your parents cannot understand your eye conversations, you start using your voice. If, for example, your parents listened closely, they would hear you saying such things as, “The perimeter of your Earth has shrunken to somewhat near a ‘diasadidal’ moment of time and space. So if you would pay attention to me, we could probably…” Meanwhile, your parents are intent on getting you to say, “Mama, Dada.” This should make you rather frustrated, don’t you think? And your parents wonder why you cry! Well, if you think about it, that would be a pretty good reason to cry.

As you establish contact with the human world in your second year, the veils of your ego also begin to strengthen and become more intense. You know that you cannot do the astral traveling as you did before and this intensifies the adjustment. That is, unless you have a father or mother who knows about metaphysics and teaches you how to get out, which is of course to their advantage as well.

Year 3. We move along rapidly into the third year, when you understand that the human world is not what you expected it to be. You came here with strong intentions to really learn the human process completely this time. You were determined to remember that you are first and foremost spirit. Now, suddenly, all of the memories are fading.

At age three, you are starting to lock into your physical presence. By now you are expected to walk fully on two legs. Well, because you had forgotten about this thing called gravity, you fall down a lot. You also fall down a lot because you have forgotten that you can fly and that you can disperse your molecular structure. At the same time, you know that you could walk across the floor twenty-five times if you wanted to, but why bother? Your parents still carry you a lot, and it works out better that way. Oh, yes, you are quite smart at three years, don’t you know?

If you look into another’s eyes deeply enough, you know the other person can understand what you are saying. Well, this is what a three-year-old child is still trying to do. It is communicating with you on other levels, but you, the human adults, are trying to define your child’s reality. Instead of letting them define their own reality, you are defining it for them; that is, until they get up to the beautiful age of four.

Year 4. At four, you want to define your own reality. With still a faint memory of where you came from and clear ideas of what this Earth plane is really all about, your parents have to hang on for dear life at this stage.

At about the fourth year, you begin to talk about your friend that lives under the bed. I know most of you were told by adults, “You stop that; otherwise, they are going to put you in a padded room and throw away the key, and you won’t be able to come out anymore. And if you go to school and talk like that in front of your teachers, they are going to think Mommy and Daddy have raised a crazy person. Don’t talk about your friend under the bed to anyone. In fact, don’t even tell me about your imaginary friend.” So you just pretend they don’t exist.

Year 5. When you grow into the beauty of the fifth year, the whole world begins to shake. In this year, you enter the mesmerizing school system of pre-schools and kindergartens where you make new friends. You have found all of these new friends, who, by the way, are all just as trapped in bodies as you are. You sit about talking with them, and you say to the one sitting at the next desk—not even using your voices quite yet, “Are we really stuck over here?” Your friend replies, “Yes, we are. I have been trying to get out of here for five years, but I can’t find my way out.” And it goes on like that, back and forth amongst all the children in the classroom. Meanwhile, the teacher is saying “A, B, C, D, E…” and you are thinking, “Well, how is it that she still has not learned the alphabet?” Yes, what you have to go through as a child is often trying, isn’t it?

Year 6. We now fast forward to the age of six because at that age you master the Earth plane. At six, you realize you no longer need adults in your world. Since they don’t know the first thing about your life, you decide not to have anything to do with them. Instead, you end up moping a lot, just sitting around and pondering life. You look at the world you came from and where you can’t wait to return to. Meanwhile, they are telling you, “Grow up and stop acting like a child.” Oh, gracious, that is such a horrible thing to say to a child.

Year 7. Moving into that final year, the seventh year, of the unfolding blueprint is one of the most exciting times. The seventh year is the year of transition. Most importantly, this is the year when you fully enact the ego system as you transition from the seventh into the eighth year. Some children will advance rapidly while others will move at a slower pace, but sometime within that year, the veils are fully enacted. And for this reason, children at this age become almost impossible to deal with. I know most parents of seven-year-olds would agree with that. I also know that parents of fourteen-year-olds might want to disagree because they know that fourteen is also an age of absolute insanity for parents. Perhaps it would help to remember that a major reconstruction of the blueprint takes place every seven years.

Guide to the Numerology

1 ~ God-Creator ~ The number one offers an opportunity to reconnect to the Creator Light within you and to know that something completely new is about to begin. It is interesting that in numerology, the number one always follows a nine, or “completion.”

2 ~ Duality ~ A number two reminds you that the third-dimensional world in which we live is based on duality and that yin/yang situations are all around us. In this case, it is best to take a look at where your life is and to move your thoughts into a higher, more balanced “trinity” level of understanding.

3 ~ Trinity ~ Allow yourself to be guided by the trinity of Truth, Trust and Passion when the number is a three. Love, the one force in Creation that has no opposite, is created and held within this trinity, so perhaps you will feel this essence awakening within you. Something bright and beautiful is about to take place in your life.

4 ~ Thought ~ Four refers to the energy of thought. When four is the number, be very conscious of your thought processes. Keep your thoughts extremely positive because in the world of thought, they can readily be manifested in any direction.

5 ~ Love ~ Five is the number of the unconditional Love of the Creator. When the number is five, watch for anything around you that can resonate in love and take advantage of it. Be in love and feel love surrounding you. When you choose love as the foundation of each decision, all comes to perfection in light.

6 ~ Mastery ~ A number six reminds you that you are in control of your life. Take this opportunity to focus on mastery. Complete all lessons and leave nothing undone. As master of your own life, make decisions that allow you to ascend to new levels of conscious awareness.

7 ~ Transition ~ The number seven offers you the possibility of transition and change. You can experience this on multiple levels simultaneously and move from one level to the next. You are in the flow of change and transformation.

8 ~ Infinity ~ The number eight signifies that the present is being experienced in two realities at the same time, as in a continuous loop. You are in simultaneous connection with both spirit (non-physical) and matrix (physical) energies. If you can remain in the center of the loop looking out at both directions, you are in a good space.

9 ~ Completion ~ Nine indicates that completion is at hand and it is a time to move on. Recognize that you have the choice to complete anything you choose to in your life. The beauty of a completion is that it always leads to a new beginning with the number one again.
