Joshua and DesyRainbow Shapiro are the authors of the new book Journeys of the Crystal Skull Explorers, and organizers of the International Crystal Skulls Festival which took place in the Netherlands in October 2006. This interview was originated by the Spanish language print magazine Mas Alla, who will publish some of the material. We are grateful to the Shapiros for allowing us to publish it here.

YOU HAVE WORKED WITH trained sensitives. Can you describe the tests performed and what were the conclusions reached based upon this particular study with the crystal skulls??

The tests performed with a trained sensitive and a crystal skull are very simple. The sensitive is allowed to hold the skull, and normally will go into a trance or altered state of consciousness. Sometimes during the trance or afterwards, they will verbally share out loud their feelings about the crystal skull - or the object they hold - or the visions they have received with the research team. From such research we have been able to gain great insights about the crystal skulls dealing with which civilization in the past had the skulls and even how they were created. From this type of research we have come up with various theories related to the skulls and their purpose:

• The skulls were created through the use of advanced laser that was able to cut the quartz into a precise shape.
• The skulls are a thought projection - either from beings in higher dimensions or created by the thought projects of priests such as in Atlantis.
• Possibly the skulls were gifts from the Gods (ETs).

The sensitives also will discuss how the crystal skulls were used by past cultures such as you have asked before. Some sensitives discuss that there exist crystal skulls on other worlds and that some of these skulls were brought here - they also discuss the link with Galactic Races and ETs, who use the crystal skulls for communication devices and that some of the crystal skulls which are out and about in the world are actually recording everything that is occurring around them and then playing these scenes back to some unknown beings or a council so they can observe what is happening on our planet. Also there have been discussions about a link the crystal skulls have with a race of people who live on the Inner Surface of our world (also known as the Hollow Earth).

The major problem or challenge working with sensitives and the skulls is that we have trouble getting consistent information from the sensitive about the crystal skull they are holding. One sensitive will tell us one story or scenario and the next a totally different one, about which culture had this crystal skull or how it was fashioned.

We believe this happens because sometimes the crystal skull is working like a mirror and is reflecting back to the sensitive their own past life information related to the skull, which might not have anything to do with factual information. Thus we receive many versions and completely different stories and information related to the same crystal skull which is linked to the unique perspective of each sensitive. But still the insights gained by such talented people remains a key in helping us unlock the mystery around the crystal skulls and to better understand them.

Have the modern crystal skulls the same properties as the ancient ones? How many ancient skulls are in total?

Your last question first - we do not know exactly (does anyone truly know?) how many ancient crystal skulls truly exist - there are legends of a group of 13 very old or original ones discusses by various Native American tribes. The Mayans discuss a group of 52 skulls, perhaps four sets of 13.

Today, perhaps there could be 15-20 crystal skulls that researchers believe could be ancient, but again there is no definitive way - no process yet developed - that can substantiate this number. Each crystal skull researcher has their own ideas and theories. And does it really matter for us to know which crystal skull is ancient and how it was created if that skull is able to help many people and produce a positive change or effect in our world?

For DesyRainbow and myself, we both feel that - eventually, when it is the right time and humanity is truly prepared and ready - it will to be revealed publicly that there exist hundreds or thousands of ancient skulls which have been hidden from us until it is the right time for them to be revealed so they can assist our world. We believe that many such skulls are now being guarded by various indigenous people all over the planet. But in truth, we believe that no single individual knows the answer to the number of skulls. Again, a better question to ask (which we answer below) is what role do the crystal skulls have to play in assisting humanity and helping us create a time of total peace in our future?

As far as the phenomena or capability of the newer or contemporary crystal skulls - they duplicate, to a certain degree, many of the phenomena of the older ones. Why is this?

Well, Carole Wilson, a good friend of mine who is a psychic and has channeled for an intelligence contained within the famous Mitchell-Hedges Skull once posed me the following question - Does it matter when a crystal skull is formed? Is not all quartz crystal itself, ancient and very old having taken thousands of years to form in the ground? Of course her point is quite true.

Next, I recall a conversion with my former co-author F. R. "Nick" Nocerino (we worked with Sandra Bowen on a book entitled Mysteries of the Crystal Skulls Revealed released in 1989) who was sharing with me his views about the origins of the crystal skulls. He told me that - for him - with some of the very very old crystal skulls that he had personally experienced, he sensed that the consciousness of the people who made the skulls were so highly evolved (far more then we are today), that perhaps we could not even conceive of what these people were like, what were their abilities were or even what they were capable of doing!! So there is no doubt that when one has contact with an ancient skull that has been brought to life and programmed by people or beings of a very highly evolved consciousness, great life transformation can happen to you!!

Now, when an older or ancient crystal skull has contact with a modern one, some other interesting things can happen. We have watched the older skull pass special abilities and gifts to this younger skull. Why? Because the younger skull is more free to travel the world and share these energies. We also believe that when a newer skull is activated and opened by its caretaker, then various unseen and kindly friends (spirits and beings from other dimensions) can also place special energies and information into the new skulls. We have watched our own personal crystal skulls (all are newer skulls) been completed transformed over the years via all the activities and travels we have conducted. Again from our own observations, the ability of a new skull to be more energized or activated lies in a direct relationship to the level of spiritual growth and consciousness of its caretaker. If such a caretaker has worked with crystal skulls in other lifetimes, we believe that they have encoded in their DNA special energy that can really help to activate a new crystal skull.

A person should not automatically assume just because a crystal skull is newly made that it has no value or it can not be of great assistance to the people that this skull has contact with. We have many many reports that the new crystal skulls are doing a great job too!!

To conclude related to this question, I am remained of the answer Grandfather Tue Bear (deceased) told us in 2004 during his interview at the Four Direction Conference in Texas. Allow me to paraphrase what he said. He stated that the more modern crystal skulls were very important because they represented the hands and feet of the older crystal skulls. The older crystal skulls are not able to travel so freely but the newer ones can.

Lastly, I recall the first night after I slept with our personal crystal skull called "Portal de Luz", "he" told me that there exists an etheric energy network that links all the crystal skulls together - like our modern internet which links computers all over the world together (well actually computers are made from quartz crystals). Therefore, once a new skull becomes activated or the crystal wakes up then the skull begins to proceed to fulfill its tasks or mission in the world - at this stage it can link into this etheric energy network and receive knowledge, information and energy from any other crystal skull that is also linked to this network. Imagine the possibilities of this last statement. Therefore, the new crystal skulls have just an important role to play as their older brothers and sisters!!

Please describe for us a few of the key skulls that you have in your crystal circle. What are their properties and your connection with them... Is perhaps your link a more mental connection?

Currently we have over 20 crystal skulls in our possession for whom we care, but for the purposes of brevity we will discuss the three skulls that came to us first.

Of all the crystal skulls we have, my strongest link with one and most interesting experiences is with our crystal skull known as "Portal de Luz", which is a 10 lb light smoky (gray) (although when I first received him he was much darker) quartz skull.

"Portal de Luz's" life began as a large block of smoky quartz mined in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. He was brought to a carver in this area who fashioned "him" into a skull shape in 1998. Then "Portal de Luz" was sold to a couple in America who sell crystal skulls. I met this couple and the skull at the Crystal Healing Symposium in Sedona, AZ, in 1999, receiving him as a gift. Carole Wilson, the Canadian sensitive I mentioned before, worked with "Portal de Luz" and told me that the quartz of the skull had been specifically programmed for me energetically before I was physically born and was just waiting for the time when we would physically meet. She told me that "Portal de Luz" would help me to activate some of my hidden inner gifts and help me to expand my work with the crystal skulls which has really happened over the past seven years.

The name of this skull is Portuguese and means "Portal or Door of Light" - this name was chosen because we were inspired to use such a name and also because the crystal came from Brazil and the carver is Brazilian, so we want the name to be in Portuguese.

When I have communicated with "Portal de Luz", the communication has come to me more on a feeling level or I will hear in my own thinking voice an idea or information he wishes to share with me. (And yes I feel that this skull has a more masculine presence so I use the term "he" when I refer to "him"). Now, I am not alone in the world to be receiving a telepathic communication with my friend; this happens to DesyRainbow as well and with many other caretakers we know. However, exactly who is speaking through the crystal skull is hard to say!!

"Portal de Luz's" special gifts are many. To try to explain in words, as I can best understand it, he definitely likes to work with many people and meet many people. He likes to help people to discover their purpose in life from an earthly point of view and at times he will offer healing or energize the person he is having contact with him. In a way, he is like his male caretaker (myself) in that he is a jack of all trades and will try to assist the person he works with in whatever is the best way for their highest good in that moment. He is definitely about sharing of important information and collecting information. For example, he sat with me during the entire time I was writing our new crystal skull book and I think he was helping to create a very good energy in the room so I could be clear on what to write in the book. He has been tested and found to create energy fields that help to balance the energy of the person or the environment he is in.

He also enjoys to be filmed and to be part of media shows - for some reason he is quite photogenic. He loves to be involved with any research projects we are conducting to better understand the crystal skulls as he was our key test skull in many of our experiments (as reported in our new book) and he likes (almost demands) to be present during any important meetings that are dealing with his crystal family (such as our conference in Holland in October, 2006, or the new non-profit foundation we have set up).

He likes to offer himself to new people, who have never had a chance to be in the presence of a crystal skull and to experience one. He seems to know exactly what type of experience the person needs; he is very gentle with them and then can help a person to prepare for their first encounter with an ancient crystal skull.

Ok, here are DesyRainbow's comments about two of our other crystal skulls that she works very intimately with called "Unity", a 1 lb rose quartz skull and the other is a 3 lb clear quartz skull called "Mozes of Peace", both of these crystal skulls made by the same carver as "Portal de Luz" in Brasil:

Unity was the very first crystal skull I held on the same day that I first met Joshua in Holland (March 2001). Later, she helped me to balance my emotions in my Heart Chakra and to release any energies I had at this time, which were of no use to me anymore. I just loved this cute crystal being. By holding and taking care of her I remembered the Love I should give to myself (we all have this Love inside of us) and it reactivated my gift (which I had in many former lifetimes) to be able to open up any crystal.

Although I "Love" and "Honor" all the crystal skulls that have come to us, Mozes of Peace is the crystal skull I work the most with. He is my one of main teachers, my friend, my pal, and my crystalline family member. He and I ARE ONE.

Mozes of Peace told me that my DNA was merged with his crystal structure long before I was even born. So my DNA actually, can be found within him as a crystal skull. He was patiently waiting for me, for thousands of earth-years. When I was a young girl I had many times the same vision, an androgynous being (who looked female to me) came to the Earth in a spaceship and brought a crystal into a crystal mine. Then after she placed all the information about her planet and herself into this crystal, she fused this particular crystal with other crystals in that cave. The cave seemed to be on a planet called Earth - Gaia - Tara. This being knew that this particular crystal would be made into an object that would be received by a being living in a time-period in the far future. What this being did not comprehend at that moment was that this future being/ person who would eventually receive this crystal, was her future self. Now I, DesyRainbow, do understand when Mozes of Peace came to me he said, "Remember your vivid vision that you had when you were a young girl, a vision about the being who came to Earth with a crystal that she brought into a mine? That crystal Am I".

When Mozes of Peace came to me in 2001 he said to me: "I will help you to get millions over the border" I interpret this now as, "I will help you to open many people up to their spiritual potential, preparing them for the big transformation that will come to our world and to remember who they really are, Beings of Light.". I do hear a real male voice when Mozes (telepathically) talks with me. He goes wherever I go when I am out for more than a day. Normally, the daily travelers (the skulls) who go with me are of smaller size because they just fit into the pockets of my jeans. These skulls will bring home the energies they have incorporated on their daily adventures, so that they can share them with the other members of our crystalline family that stayed home.

The gifts that Mozes of Peace will offer to people and that he gives to me are very elaborate. Mozes (as I stated before) is a wonderful healing skull who is able to channel the "7 Rays of Light" and can show to a person very clearly what blockage exists in their personal life. He is very connected with the "Merlin Energy" and with the energy of the Ascended Master "St. Germain", who told me that HE also takes care of this crystal skull. "Mother Mary" blessed Mozes in 2004, in a chapel in England where "she" appeared very clearly in front of both of us and I saw how the 'Lady of all Nations' put her hands on top of Mozes' head and blessed him, which filled me with Joy and deep Gratitude.

Another gift Mozes possesses is that "his" ability to connect a person with the energies of the original planet or world from which this person's soul originates from. This is very handy for certain people who feel kind of "homesick" at times. The spirit of Mozes is able to travel far distances and "he" will bring me quite often through different galaxies and into other dimensions and timelines. "He" is not as fond of large public events as his brother "Portal" but in order for him to transfer his beautiful energies, he sometimes needs to be with a large group of people and this is ok for him. Last but not least, Mozes of Peace likes the water, rainstorms, snow storms, and especially lukewarm water to bathe in. He recently shared with me that we both have to do some work with the waters of Holland, but this is for the near future.
