Overview for Your Personal Year and October 2001

1 - The journey of this year has focused on the development of yourself through harnessing your willpower to achieve goals. Another element is now introduced. It requires pausing, recognizing the importance of reasoned self-discipline, and the need to work in concert with others. As you realize the need to form alliances, you see the power of connections. Who are valuable companions, and who cause distress? Your choices reflect the reality you have created, and an opportunity is present to clear your channels of perception. What nourishes you? Do your thoughts uplift and support your ideals, or do they cause distress? Light and dark are reflected in events. You can be a unifying agent, or retrieve yourself in retreat from a lost cause. When you open to your intuition, insights can be prolific. When you insist on working from a base of logic, you miss the bigger picture. Duality is presented all over the place. Your opportunity is to see both sides and move beyond either one. This is called alchemy.

2 - In a year filled with duality, a new element is presented. As much as you've been required to play a waiting game, now the spark of light not only glimmers, but ignites a creative spurt that signals some wonderful opportunities in the coming year. Regardless of circumstances, find time for expressing yourself. Join with a merry band of friends and do things that are light hearted and bring you joy. You have a marvelous quality now that can draw others to you, but when you allow emotional issues to cloud your vision, you miss opportunities. Life does not ask that you be unloving or uncaring, only to detach a bit. The stage is set, the lights are turned on, and the world is waiting for you. Take this opportunity to bring your gifts forward, as there may be great rewards for the effort.

3 - Creativity abounds this year, but so does lack of discipline in many cases. Now there is need to take stock and determine how you can harness the energy you've expended into avenues that will build a solid foundation for the future. This requires practical consideration and doing what is necessary to develop and implement steps to achieve a goal. You will have an opportunity to see where the foundations you've developed are sturdy, and where they need revamping or shoring up. There is an opportunity to overcome limitations within yourself and to grasp reality in a way you haven't done before. Issues related to life and death may arise, causing you to be aware of the transitory nature of the world. This confrontation with a larger reality can broaden your understanding, so don't be afraid and constrict in the face of challenge. Embrace it…engage…and transform your life!

4 - It's time to awaken to possibilities for change. There are ideas, people, other lands to explore, and so much more that can bring about a shift in your perception. If you've been doggedly holding down the fort, or recognizing that the foundations you've established have become imprisoning, it's time to step off the curb of control and allow yourself to experience something different. You don't have to go overboard, but diversity can bring a clearing or add to your body of knowledge and understanding. So, if physical or mental adventure calls, pack your bags and go. It's an opportunity to live life more expansively and can bring new vistas that you never imagined were possible. What a trip!

5 - After expanding your horizons or changing course this year, the opportunity arises to question your motives and establish procedures that add value to whatever you are doing. When you give of yourself with a loving heart, you feel appreciation for your efforts. When you allow your expectations to lock you into judgment, resentment will be mirrored back. Monitor your reactions. As you observe your own responses to what life asks of you, you will be able to tell how much you do because you want to, and how much is out of obligation. Clarify what to take on or hand off in the future so that when you do make commitments, they are heartfelt. Health issues can surface to remind you to take better care of yourself. In everything you do this month, love is the answer… even when you have to say "no."

6 - It's time to take off… go somewhere to recharge your batteries, shut the door, be in nature, garden, sleep, contemplate, or read something that is meaningful to you. After all that is required of you this year in relation to family, service, or health concerns, the month asks you to take a closer look at yourself. Who are you? Why are you here? What is the purpose of your life? Going deeper allows you to evaluate your interactions with others and determine where dynamics serve or do not serve to grace everyone concerned. Be honest with yourself. Truth liberates. Self-protection only builds larger walls. What is the real desire behind the facade? Distance is fine for a respite, but the goal is to release self from the illusion of separateness, and return to the unified field. Sounds a little heady, doesn't it? Enrich yourself this month…nourish your soul.

7 - Now you are presented with a question. How well have you integrated the various aspects of your life? This year has asked you to go deeper into your values, sense of worth, and connection to spirit. What have you learned? Have you met your "Self" through events, recognized your strengths and failings, resolved issues or relationships that needed healing? It's time to balance the scales. Action and non-action. Achievement and Being. Rather than either/or, the operative term is "And" - harmonize through opening your arms to everything you are. Orchestrate the influences by letting them move through you without attachment. The rain falls and the sun shines. The light illumines and the dark incubates. All part of the flow…all part of life. Embrace and release. Find your inner point of balance. Feel its resonance, and let go.

8 - Striving leads to suffering. Holding means confining. As you allow life to move through you without attaching to results or narrowing the possibilities, you can experience fresh opportunities that enliven and renew you. This month requires non-attachment. Beyond appearances, go to Source. Stand on top of the metaphorical mountain and extend your arms to embrace everything. When you look with eyes of love and feel gratitude for the multiple blessings life provides, every event becomes a brush stroke that enriches and deepens you. Give up limited notions. Life is much bolder and grander than anything you can design. Tragedy is a staging area for greatness. Greatness is a momentary lull as the play of life unfolds and moves you on the time stream of change. Nothing remains the same. Everything evolves, and as you integrate this concept, you can channel your abilities into long-range goals and opportunities that will provide rewards for years to come. The clue is in the not grasping. Get that.

9 - A new direction may present itself now. The year has offered opportunities to clear out the past, to remove the residue of all that confined you. As you make room in the present, the future can bloom. This month requires seeding. Watch for opportunities, make new connections, and believe in yourself. Your strength of character is called into play, and leadership may be thrust upon you. Take it! You may have to step out of an old role, or assume new responsibility. Your vantage point is important, so don't withhold it. If there is anything you would like to be or do…know it is possible, and take the steps required to get you there! The staging area is prepared. It's up to you to make the moves that will set the wheels in motion. A new cycle begins next year, so do everything possible to put yourself in position to take advantage of the best of your choices. Now is the beginning.
