Numbers By Design

Throughout the year, look at the number of your year when you read the monthly column. It will be adjusted to reflect the unfolding influences as they apply to your journey. However, refer back to the overview (below) of the year because it presents valuable information related to the purpose of the year for your growth and development.

March 2002

1 - Everything in you may want to rush ahead to begin something new, but there is a word of caution as you are asked to make sure the foundation upon which you build your future is solid. Look dispassionately at what you are doing and how you are doing it. Are there sturdy underpinnings to your plans? Do you need to revamp anything…rebuild anywhere? Avoid shortcuts that pull the rug out from under you, and be willing to look at old patterns that don't serve you anymore. By taking a fresh approach, dropping your defenses, and risking to the unknown, you have an opportunity to make major or minor breakthroughs. As you do, a whole new life opens up. Die to the old so the new can be birthed. Then you will see what transformation is really all about!

2 - Alliances may be shifting as a note of change is in the air. You may feel restless, desiring movement and more to look forward to. By harnessing your enthusiasm, you can accomplish great things. Information, travel, expanded contacts with others are all part of the time period. Be discerning in dealings with those who might try to portray something as better than it really is. Clarity about your own motivation is important so you can expand without stepping on others, or being a pawn in someone else's game. Rely on the Divine for guidance rather than your wits. Then everyone wins!

3 - Your ideals and desire to have everything be warm and fuzzy come up now. Family obligations may surface, service to others is important, and the way you look upon those responsibilities is key. Do you give with a loving heart, or do you count the cost and feel martyred in the process? Everything you do makes an energetic ripple in the fabric of life. When you extend yourself with love and appreciation for the doing, much comes back to you. When you give because it is required or technically correct, the resentment underlying your actions is felt by others and mirrored back to you. When you are torn between duty and desire, illness can crop up. Observe yourself, and note where it would be more appropriate to say "no" to requests, and where other projects make your heart swell with joy. In all dilemmas, Love and self-honesty bring clarity.

4 - You may have a special area of interest that calls for increased effort and time to spend on refining your project. Health matters can crop up if you haven't taken care of yourself. Alone time is important or imposed upon you, and the key to the month is to go to Spirit. As you ask questions related to who you are and why you are here, you gain insight and answers that take you to a deeper level within yourself. It is a year of reframing or strengthening what you already have, so be prepared to drop unnecessary defenses and allow truth to help you spread your wings. Resolution is possible now, so refine the lens of inquiry and capture the essence of what is presented for the renewal of your soul.

5 - A dynamic opportunity is presented that requires finding the perfect point of balance between doing and being. Channel your energy and direct the focus into areas where you can integrate what you have learned and benefit from your past efforts. Powerful people may assist you, or valuable information is presented to help you make decisions. You are the director, and your life is a system of energy. Bring it into flowing motion, calibrating effort so that your life is a symphony of possibilities. Make time for the different facets of your nature, and take time to smell the flowers. When under stress, remember to breathe, and take advantage of flowing water and massage to ease tense muscles. This can be a productive and validating month.

6 - Something comes to term. It can be an attitude that no longer works, outworn clothes or items that need clearing, a project that is complete, or relationships that have come to conclusion. Whatever needs releasing, let it go. There are new things that are waiting to enter, but before they can, you need to clear space for them. This applies on multiple levels. In all things, an attitude of gratitude for what you DO have is important. The more you appreciate, the more is supplied. When you feel lack, you attract it, and when you look to the good in your life, you will find it. Higher purpose is important this month, and all you do for the benefit of others finds heartfelt response. It's important to remember that everything has a reason and a season under Heaven.

7 - There is an opening and opportunity to promote something that is important to you. It's a good time to rely on yourself, develop a stronger sense of your courage, stamina, and willingness to move forward. Life calls upon you to stand up and be counted. Your leadership or unique way of viewing something is valid. Voice your opinion. Make your contribution. New connections can be valuable in the future. You are planting seeds this month, so take every opportunity to plant them wherever possible. Even though they may not all take hold, those that do will bear good fruit in the future!

8 - Partnerships are called in review. There are those that are supportive of you and those that are a major drain. You are asked to analyze what works and what doesn't, and to weed out elements that are destructive or divisive. Some of the review is internal. What is the caliber of your thinking? Nourishing or depleting? What about the food you eat, and the people you spend time with. Choose only that which is top quality and supports you in your best good, and in relation to people, make sure you support them as well. You have intuitive strength now, so use it. Even if things are confusing sometimes, rely on the inner light that illumines all possibilities.

9 - The joy principle is peeking out at you. Take time for play, creativity, self-expression. Be with a merry band of friends and enjoy social events and the opportunity to see humor where others might be stuck in the mud. It is important not to take yourself too seriously. Emotional issues around children or situations related to yourself as a child can crop up. Life asks you to be more detached, not allowing external events to drown out possibilities. You can be the star this month. You are persuasive, attractive, and can inspire many, so utilize this not-always-present gift. As you bring your light to others, everyone is blessed, and life is enriched. You can grace the world with beauty now and be enriched in the process.

OVERVIEW

1 - This year begins a new cycle for you, and many doors may open. There is still something from the past that needs to be completed, but your opportunity is to identify new arenas for your energy and focus, and for planting seeds of new concepts and endeavors. Tests will arise to help you identify where you are reacting out of impulse or using a reasoned, self-disciplined approach to problem solving. At times, there may be a great desire for liberation or freedom, and in a 1 year you can take the quick and easy route that leads you on a very long and unexpected journey, or you can gather yourself and ask what you need to learn from the situation at hand, and how you can move through it gracefully, with concern for the well-being and dignity of all concerned. Maturity and immaturity play themselves out in the 1 year. You will learn a lot about yourself and how you deal with challenges. It is a time of character building, requiring courage, fortitude, determination, and willingness to listen to higher guidance. In the end, you have to make the decisions that affect your life, so make sure you are communing with the best advisors. As the pioneer, you begin your new adventure. Forward, Ho!

2 - After last year's headlong rush, you now pause to reflect. You move out of impulse and into reasoning. This year requires patience, understanding the importance of timing, and the need to look beyond the surface for answers. If you try to logic things out, you may be confused. When you utilize the gifts of prayer and meditation, you will gain insight into the why's and wherefores of your life. Nothing can be hurried, and yet there are moments where you engage in sudden connections or disconnections. Quality is a key ingredient…the caliber of your interactions with others, with your own thinking process, and with the foods you eat. Appearances can be misleading, so move into a feeling level and follow your hunches. In all things this year, faith is the answer. Believe in something greater, and even if it cannot be seen, hold out your hand and walk with trust that you are being guided through what might at times be confusing. The only way out is in, so allow the incubation process to take place. Like pregnancy, this year requires waiting and nurturing so that the healthy flowering of your gifts may come to birth.

3 - Sensitivity and emotions that cropped up last year continues. Whereas last year you had to reflect and let things unfold in time, now you are asked to express yourself more freely. Take some risks and allow for your creative spirit to be more center-stage. Be playful and find humor in absurdity. You are the one to whom others will come for emotional support, or you may need it yourself. Be sure to set boundaries, and know when enough is enough. Children can be gratifying or an issue, or you may deal with the child within yourself. The focus is on the creative spirit behind all things that seeks to bring more color, light-heartedness, and joy into your life. If you feel repressed, it's time to release the inhibiting factors. Being open to life's possibilities does not mean abandoning those you love. However, it does mean knowing when to let go of other people's drama and find the light that is searching for you. Life is a stage, and this is your year to shine. You can gain financially and romantically also, so find the elements that make life worth living and enjoy them!

4 - Out of emotions and into practicality. This year requires that you look at all the foundations within your life and psyche. Where are they constructed on strong principles, and where are they wobbly? Time to define and determine your course of action, lay the groundwork, and start building. The past two years have been based on emotional responses and sensitivity to subtleties. Now, earth calls. It's time to ground ideas and form alliances with those who can help you get things done. Results are required. There are concerns for safety and security issues. Dependability is important. Are you building for the future or undoing edifices that have outlived their usefulness? Whether you are in the midst of construction or deconstruction, forge your bond with truth, beauty, and goodness. As you set your own cornerstone, you become a grounding rod for others who look to you for sage advice.

5 - Tides and time change. So do we. This mid-point year in your nine-year cycle asks you to open to expanding horizons. This may mean moving, changing direction, traveling, involving yourself in new ideas or widening your framework of knowledge. It is a year of activity, whether physical or mental. It may cause you to feel somewhat anxious at times, or restless with status quo. By all means, be exuberant and enthusiastic, but make sure you are aware of how many hours are in the day and how much time you really can allocate to all the things you want to accomplish. 5 requires being discriminating and discerning, as the tendency to jump into things may preclude good judgment. Be aware of the rights of others and the need to march to your own drumbeat as well. Freedom is important. So is kindness. You may experience liberation in one form or another this year. Meet the opportunities and challenges with open arms, for there is a lot to gain from the experiences of this year.

6 - This year the focus is on service, health and well-being. You are a caregiver, or the recipient of assistance. You are concerned with how you are perceived, how the world views your accomplishments, if you are doing enough, and if others are appreciating your efforts. Everything revolves around the idea of personal contribution within the context of family or work environs. Your level of expectation dictates feelings of warmth and contentedness or resentment towards duties and obligations. The opportunity is to do what you do with a loving heart. Know that the task is to help others become capable in their own right, not foster dependence. Giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin, and it's important to engage in both. Honor your commitments, but determine where it's time to negotiate what doesn't feel appropriate anymore. As you appreciate your life, it becomes one to appreciate. When you resent what's in front of you, you have much to resent. In all you do…love paves the way for peace of mind and contentment of spirit. It is achievable. Now.

7 - The focus of this year is a deeper connection to life. There is more to living than acquisition, and as you find yourself wanting more time for retreat or space to do what is important to you, questions may be rising as to who you are, why you are here, and what the purpose of your life is. Pursue these. The 7th year is time for reflection, and deepening your spiritual nature. Knowledge is important. You may want to spend time with a special interest or be in nature where you feel restored. Over-activity is debilitating in the 7th year. Tests are presented that push you to uncover your true nature. Resolution of an old relationship may take place, or you can meet someone you feel you've known forever. Take time to smell the flowers and to get the rest you need. This year is a time for recharging your batteries and soul searching. As you do, you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find!

8 - Prepare for an intense ride! This year calls you to pursue your goals with determination, and to direct your efforts with an eye to balance and integration. Life is a systems approach right now, and you are the grand programmer. It is important to know when to direct your efforts and when to let creative process take place. Too much is overwhelming. Too little is ineffective. Recognize where you need time for the many different facets of yourself, than set about making space for them. If you have a project that consumes you, make sure you know when to stop to make room for significant others in your life. The delicate art of balancing a life is called for now. Not always easy. When you feel stress and tension arise, it signals that you need to relax. Sound and movement can ease tension. A little fountain in your workspace can also help. The physical shape of 8 demonstrates what is called for; flow with the river - don't fight upstream!

9 - During this year you have nine year's worth of experience to digest and reconcile. It's a year of looking backwards so that you can remove the obstacles that are in the way to movement forward. Release attachment to all things no longer pertinent. Let the past be the past so the present and future can unfold without dead weight holding you back. What have you outgrown? Who is no longer moving in the same direction? Where do you need to let go with love and release attitudes that restrict you? This year calls you to maturity. It's time to grow into your higher and best nature, not massage your limitations. When you feel gratitude for everything left in your life, you open a subtle energy force that draws more good to you. When you dwell on loss, you attract that, too. Recognize that there is a bigger plan unfolding. Find your way to the metaphorical mountaintop so you can see the whole view. It is an amazing journey and your contribution is important.
