| FOR OVER 20 YEARS, David Hawkins M.D., Ph.d and author of Power vs. Force*, researched human energy fields. A psychiatrist since 1952, he established that each of our emotions has a specific value. His research “involved millions of calibrations on thousands of test subjects of all ages and personality types, and from all walks of life”. His Map of Consciousness lists attitudes and emotions, with corresponding numerical values that range from 1-1000. The figures on his map represent a logarithmic progression, which means that the level of 400, for example, is not twice that of 200, but 10 to the 400th power. “An increase of even a few points represents a major advance in power; as we move up the scale, the rate of increase in power is enormous. The difference between 361.0 and 361.1 is very meaningful and capable of transforming both one’s life and one’s effect on the world at large.” Following are some levels and emotions from his Map of Consciousness, beginning with the lowest. Value - Level - Emotion 20 - Shame -Humiliation 30 - Guilt - Blame 50 - Apathy - Despair 75 - Grief - Regret 100 - Fear - Anxiety 125 - Desire - Craving 150 - Anger - Hate 175 - Pride - Scorn 200 - Courage - Affirmation 250 - Neutrality - Trust 310 - Willingness - Optimism 350 - Acceptance - Forgiveness 400 - Reason - Understanding 500 - Love - Reverence 540 - Joy - Serenity 600 - Peace - Bliss 700-1,000 - Ineffable - Pure Consciousness Through this study, Dr. Hawkins found that “the ways various levels of human consciousness express themselves are profound and far-reaching; their effects are both gross and subtle. All levels below 200 are destructive of life in both the individual and society at large; all levels above 200 are constructive expressions of power. The decisive level of 200 is the fulcrum that divides the general areas of force and power.” He determined that the body becomes stronger or weaker, depending on the level and emotion i.e., the state. The body is weakened by any state at a value below 200. In this weakened state, in order to take action, force must be used. This means that emotions below 200 produce disempowered states. These weakened states render the body susceptible to disease and related “wear and tear”. The body is strengthened by values of 200 and above, and power is intrinsic. Force is not required because those levels and emotions are inherently empowered states. Beginning with courage at 200, then progressing to neutrality, willingness, reason, love, joy, peace and ineffable (beyond definition), you are empowered. As level 200 demarcates a critical change of consciousness, 500 - (unconditional) love - demarcates another point at which awareness makes a giant leap. The reason for this is a change of power, but even more important, is a change of quality. This qualitative shift results from the presence of unconditional love and its related states of discernment, understanding, humility, integrity, generosity, compassion or unitive consciousness (seeing the unity of all life). To experience the difference now, close your eyes, and for a moment just focus your attention on feeling the sensation of your breathing. Once you feel quiet, remember the most recent situation in which you felt great loss, disturbance and pain. How did your body feel during that experience? What emotion did you feel? As you recall that emotion, describe how you feel now. Then to experience a level and frequency shift, now, smile. Boldly beam your smile into the room, and out into the universe. Beam it so strongly that the universe ripples with your joy. See the difference? Fun, eh? “At 500 and above, excellence is common in every field of human endeavor. Altruism becomes a motivating factor, along with dedication to principles. Leadership is accepted rather than sought. From this level, great music, art and architecture emerge, as does the capacity to uplift others by one’s mere presence.” Dr. Hawkins' research shows that the quality of our states determines our energy level, health and well-being. In addition, it provides a guide to see the effect of the states we most often inhabit. With this information, we are more able to change. *Hawkins, David R. (1995, 1998, 2002). Force Vs. Remember that the 3rd dimensional universe of form and structure, contains and encloses, as governed by the Law of Polarity: • Everything is Dual. • Everything has poles. • Everything has its pair of opposites. • Like and unlike are essentially the same. • Opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree. • Extremes meet. • All truths are but half-truths. • All paradoxes may be reconciled. The creation of one pole brings another into existence. The power of one pole generates and requires an equal force in the other. Extremes of any kind cause a swing in the opposite direction. Polar opposites embody the same nature, with negative - contraction and restriction - and positive - expansion and freedom - at the extremes, and neutral at midpoint. This means that to everything you observe, we ascribe a negative, neutral or positive meaning, and each carries a specific charge, or frequency. For example, “deception” and “hatred” carry negative frequencies because they are undesirable states. “Unconditional love” and “joy”, on the other hand, carry positive frequencies because they are desirable states. The negative frequency has dominated human consciousness. Hence, our perceptions, decision-making, and the thinking and behavior that result, have been essentially negative - limited, controlled and controlling, deceptive, violating, destructive and more... History and current affairs plainly demonstrate this. With negative frequency dominance, the brain perceives from the negative polarity. This slants us toward negative aspects and reactions, rather than positive or neutral. With positive frequency dominance, the brain perceives from the positive frequency. Thoughts are accepting and creative, and generate a comfortable feeling. We easily find a way to move through, around over or under obstacles, or take an altogether different direction. With positive brain function, nothing can ultimately hinder the achievement of intended success.
Five
keys to living your intended destiny The more intense your emotional reaction - positive or negative - the more intense your state. This is important to understand because this is when you most powerfully energize your intention. Energy is creative, regardless of its frequency. “Create” simply means to bring about or produce. Hence, negative energy begets infinite possibility; and positive energy begets infinite possibility. Which produces the results you intend? Ok, so this is an absurd question. But to progressively build the life of your dreams, you must intend to effectively manage your states, then do it. Intention commands your brain, while “want” is weaker and more diffuse. (See the map for the value of desire, the equivalent of want.) If they were to be placed on Dr. Hawkins' map, you would find intention listed higher than want. Following are their definitions, so you can see their difference in power. Intend v. 1. To have have in mind; plan. 2. To design for a specific purpose. 3. To signify; mean. Want v. 1. To wish for; desire. 2. To fail to have; lack. 3. To have need. Which do you now choose to empower your dreams? There are five keys to managing your state when you experience difficulty and triggered episodes. The first key is to remain centered at all times, and manage your state so your frequency is high and your brain can impart wisdom. The second key is to consistently behave in ways that please you and that feel good. “Do unto yourself as you would have others do unto you.” The third key is to behave in accordance with the way you intend others to regard you. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The fourth key is to remember that, like you, others are doing their best relative to their past, conditioning, strengths and limitations. They become triggered, too, and automatically react out of their ingrained responses. Most people are not intending to be a problem for anyone, but simply behave in accordance with their habits. Therefore, seek to understand what is happening, for yourself and for them. Feel compassion for them and for yourself, and communicate and cooperate in ways that help you both achieve a successful outcome. The fifth key is to appreciate others for the triggering circumstances they bring, rather than resent and attack them, or withdraw and reject. When you do this, rather than feeling upset, you feel gratitude. That’s an awesome change! Gratitude is certainly a higher frequency than anger or resentment, and helps you install trust and wisdom as your foundation. The bottom line is that you cannot change your negative habits without current time opportunities to do so. This means you must be triggered, and energized by that challenge, you must successfully change your negative reactions to positive ones, then follow through until you achieve the results you intend. Imagine the far-reaching effect.
