The Dark Night
of the Soul When you listen to a motivational speaker, rarely do you hear about the process of success. This is the part nobody talks about when discussing becoming successful and having what you want. To become successful one must literally be transformed physically, emotionally and spiritually from a mentality of scarcity into one of abundance. It is natural and beneficial if a person is consciously aware of what is going on within them. Without awareness, however, it can truly seem as if it is a dark night of the soul. |
| Recently, after doing some healing work with my new teacher,
my life began to fall apart. Everything I wanted to do or accomplish ground
to a halt. It was as if I was stuck in a vat of Jell-O unable to make sense
of anything that was happening to me. I was in deep despair. Even though
I have studied and taught about this process for years, the fact that I
was right in the middle of it didn’t occur to me.
The ideas and attitudes about money that you currently hold are based on your existing "paradigms". How you view yourself in relationship to your money determines your money paradigm. I knew that when my clients declared an intention to be financially prosperous, and commited to that intention by writing it down, they would often experience things getting worse before they got better. I call this breakdown process “cleaning out the toxic waste dump of the past”. Yet, in my case, I was so deep into it that I forgot my own teachings and principles and I dwelled in worry, complaining and blaming. And, as you might have already guessed, neither magic money nor clarity of purpose showed up. I had put out such strong negative energy that money could not penetrate the wall of fear and self-loathing I had created within myself. Fortunately, I came to my senses and realized that what was happening was just part of the process. Every person is different and so is the transformational process unique to the soul of each individual. The only steps that are universal and apply to all are awareness and acceptance. You must first be aware and accept that you are in the process of breakthrough. It is helpful to have as much information and knowledge about this process as you go through it. In Catherine Ponder’s “The Dynamic Laws of Healing,” she describes this process as “a chemical change literally takes place in their thoughts and feelings, which is then reflected in their bodies and affairs.” This “chemicalization” healing process is actually “a clash between their old way and new ways of thinking - this sets up a chemical relation in the mind, body and affairs.” While in this chemicalization process you may even revert to old negative habits and attitudes. This perfectly normal behavior is described as “regression” in psychological terms. You may even believe things will never get better, or become frantic searching for some reason outside yourself for being in this predicament. Once you have accepted your situation, there are some steps you can take to knock down the walls your negative energy has built around you. This is the time to be gentle and kind to yourself. Take a break from your routine of doing way too much and give yourself plenty of time to rest. You actually need lots of sleep because healing takes place during your sleep. Give yourself the gift of resting your body. Take a walk on the beach. Take action each day towards your intended results without losing patience or expecting too much of yourself during this time. Just like the ocean has low and high tides, so also do we humans have low tides. Fighting yourself makes no more sense than fighting the ocean or telling it to have only high tides. Honoring yourself in this process not only supports your intentions, it moves the process along. © Marilyn August, Wealth & Wisdom Seminars Marilyn August offers "Money-Wealth and Wisdom" seminar in south Orange County, California.
