IF YOU ARE like most people, you've heard the term "new age" bantered about for a long time. You hear about the new age in song (e.g., The Age of Aquarius), read about it in books, and purchase the latest new age records and incense holder from the local New Age metaphysical store. You have a general sense that the New Age means a new spirituality (generally opposed to systems of spiritual authority) but beyond that don't really give it much thought.

That's not a problem really and it is perfectly ok to approach the new age from this perspective. However, there is a deeper meaning to the New Age and it is important that we begin to become conscious of this. This deeper meaning is more collective and Divinely inspired than what you might traditionally think. This perspective that I am talking about here moves beyond the New Age impact on our personal lives and begins to uncover the Divine reasons for our incarnation on this earth. As cliched as this might sound, you see, we are all on a mission from God. We are all here as energy workers and light workers to accomplish a divinely significant task.

Just what is this task? There is actually quite a lot to say about this Divine mission but to make a long story short, we are here on this earth to ascend both this planet and our physical bodies. There is a certain technical component to this (and I explain this in great detail in The Book of Life: Ascension and the Divine World Order) but for this short article we can distill the truth of ascension down to this basic fact.

We are here to change the physical rules of this physical universe.

We are here to modify the conditions of creation.

We are here to change the rules of incarnation and creative manifestation.

"Why would we want to do this?" you ask.

Good question, say I.

Basically, so it is not so darn hard to incarnate in a physical body and get things done. As anybody knows who has lived in a physical body at this dimension of reality, life can be ardous. Getting the things we want can be hard. Moving forward can take a lot of effort. In this physical universe, creation of any kind is difficult and time consuming and because of this a lot of the Divine fun is taken out of physical manifestation. From our perspective as Immortal Spirit, it takes altogether too much work to get things done and so it is our job on this earth to change the rules. The spiritual bottom line is, we are specially selected volunteers and we have come to this earth to fix things so creation does not take as much effort and will.

I suppose the immediate question that flows from this is, why would we want to go to all this trouble and change this? Is not life just like that? Isn't this the way it has always been? Isn't this something we just have to accept as a basic fact of creation?

The answer to these questions is a resounding no! We categorically do not have to accept the way things are. We can change them and, in fact, are right in the middle of a successful move to alter the physical conditions of creation, but more on this below.
If you can accept that we have this Divine purpose, then I guess the next question is, how are we going to change the things we came to change? The answer to that question is surprisingly simple. We will change the conditions of creation simply by changing the amount of energy that the molecules of this physical universe can hold. If we can do that, if we can alter the conditions so that physical matter has more base energy, then creation will become much easier. We call this process raising the energy of the physical universe (a.k.a. the vibration of the physical universe, The Ascension).

Now I know this might sound all mystical and new agey but it is not really. What I am talking about here is a very practical, physical sort of process. You'll see what I mean if I provide an example.

Think of the physical universe that you inhabit (and this includes your physical body) as a big glass of cold molasses. Imagine holding that glass of molasses in your hand. Stick a spoon in it and stir. When the molasses is cold, it is very thick and difficult to move. It is viscous, solid, and inert. That is the physical universe right now. Thick and cold and, from a spiritual perspective, this is not a good thing. This thickness makes it difficult to move around (create) in. We (and by we I mean Immortal Spirit) get tired pretty quickly moving in conditions like this.

Now put that glass of molasses next to a heat source of some kind. Maybe you put it in a pot of boiling water or inside a microwave. Leave the molasses to warm up and when it is warm, stick a spoon in it and stir. As you can imagine, when you add energy to the molasses, the consistency of it changes. It becomes less viscous and easier to stir. It pours out easily, wiggles and jiggles when you move it around, and is generally more bouncy when the molecules are moving faster (i.e., vibrating higher) because of the added heat.

This is basically what we are here to do. We are here to stir up the physical universe (the molasses) so that it responds to our creative intent in a more fluid, less resistant, fashion.

This is our Divine mission, our purpose, if you will, and it is why we were chosen to come here to this earth. We (and by we I mean you and me) are here to add energy to the physical universe to make it less thick. If the truth be told, you and I are, little cosmic heating sources, and we are now turning on the heat in order to raise the vibration of this planet in exactly the same way as we raise the vibration of molasses. We are doing this in order to make the creative soup we work in easier to move around in. Of course, the process isn't exactly like my example of molasses. When we add energy we are doing it in a multidimensional sort of way. But that's only important if you are a scientist and want to clue in to the deeper physical process that is occurring around us right now.
Sounds kind of exciting right?

It is, and let me tell you that we have been waiting to get to this point for a long, long time. Why so long? Well, to make another long story short, because we have had to train ourselves so that we could accomplish this difficult task with no unintended negative consequences. We have had to build up our bodies, strengthen our minds, and practice, practice, practice (tap on center of your forehead here) so that when the time came for us to really do this, we would be ready for the explosion of light, energy, and creation that would inevitably result when we altered the creative conditions of this physical universe and made creation in it so much easier.

So, where are we in all this now? Well, we are about half way through the process already. There are already quite a few people out there who have turned on their portable heaters and are now in the process of raising the vibration of this planet. As expected, we are already seeing quite a bit of success. Creation is getting easier, things are happening faster, and everyone is manifesting in their lives with greater efficiency. Incidentally, this is why things are getting so hectic in your personal life and chaotic on this earth. The farther we get with this process the easiers things will happen to you. More importantly, the farther we get along with this process, the more the contents of the collective consciousness of the people of this earth will manifest in the physical world. If the minds of the people are filled with fear and hatred, then they will manifest that. If the minds are filled with love and understanding, then this will be the world we create. A superficial look at the world right now might lead you to conclude the worst about this ascension thing. That is, we will make it easier to create and then all the darkness and negativity that is buried away in people's deep unconscious minds will uncontrollably explode into manifestation and destroy this earth, just as happened in Atlantis.

The truth is, though, this is not going to happen.

Why?

Because of you. Because of all the lightworkers who have incarnated on this earth in the last few decades just to be in this exact spot at this exact time. You see, it is your job as incarnated light workers to light the way for all the sleeping energy workers who are now being threatened by their own expanding creative power.

How are you going to do that? By doing exactly what you are doing now. By doing what what you have been practicing for several lifetimes. By publishing magazines, demonstrating new ways of thinking and acting, healing the deep wounds of the damaged psyche, battling with negativity, clearing energy with Reiki (and other techniques), correcting wrong-headed thinking, and generally helping to right the wrong energetic spin that is manifesting in this world.

This is your job. This is the job of the lightworker.

But what am I telling you this for?

You already know all this. Even if you have never heard about "the ascension" in this lifetime, what I am telling you is not news, but rather, is probably strangely familiar. This is because you already know all this. You already know, at a deep level, that what I am telling you is the truth. All I am here to do is remind you of your purpose and power and tell you it is time to get to work. You have practiced for centuries. You have waited for eons and now it all comes down to this moment of this ascending planet.

Get excited if you want, but don't worry. Nothing bad will happen. The manifested chaos and negativity may grow a bit more, but there are too many powerful lightworkers (just like you) waiting patiently for the signal for this to fail. We have practiced too long, worked too hard, and arranged things too carefully. There really is no chance of failure!

So here is the signal. Everything is in place and all the variables perfectly arranged. The time is now. The place is earth.

Now get out there you warriors, healers, and lightworkers and do what you do best.

Light your light.

Heal the pain.

Show the way.

Lead us home.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Though born a catholic, Michael Sharp has been interested in spiritual things since childhood. After receiving a traditional education in the catholic school system, he attended a large Canadian university where he completed his academic training with undergraduate degrees in both psychology and sociology and a PhD in sociology. His study and work as a sociologist made him aware of the form and nature of injustice, poverty, and inequality in this world.
