"There are many mythical and magical creatures that we can connect with through our subconscious. Through time, we learn trust, and through trust we are shown their natural powers and how to make the connection between the material world and the spirit realm, allowing the luminous message of love to flow from the dark crevices of the earth to the universe." |

In the first of this brand new series, we turn the spotlight on a remarkable artist, Patrick Gamble, who tells us what 'turned on his light'. Each month we intend to satisfy your curiosity about other people's journeys, about what specific incidents or events awoke them to the realisation that they were indeed a lightworker. So if you would like to share your own story, this is the place to do it. To kick off this new series, it's over to Patrick to explain his journey so far: Patrick Gamble - Artist & Spiritual Healer I was born in England, although my early years were spent getting to know and love the great vastness of Australia as well as her Aborigines and her Outback. Exposure to this unique environment as a child was wonderful and provided me with a deep sense of enlightenment. The years passed and I returned to Cornwall in England, only to realise how much I had to learn about life. After a short time, I found myself on the way to South Africa. A period of great learning followed, with lessons on detachment and hardships high on my agenda. My life was like a disarranged puzzle, with the pieces scattered everywhere. I know now that all these pieces have their place, and each one represents stages in my life. However sad or tragic, they are important, for they are the teachers. I have come to believe that when one's heart weeps for what it has lost, the spirit smiles for what it has gained. After a considerable period, I returned once again to Cornwall, and this is when I was given a box of junk, consisting of some oils, a canvas and some other bits and pieces. My immediate thought was "I'll never use that ~ I can't paint!" Suddenly, one day, I felt an overwhelming urge to put oil onto the canvas and as I did, this wonderful face of wisdom appeared. At the end of two hours, which only felt like ten minutes, I took a look at what I had painted and felt the tears running down my face. I later learned that this man was my guide, and he is beside me to this very day. Before that first painting I called myself an aetheist, a non-believer in life after death, spirituality and religion. So you can imagine how I felt when I found myself painting through Spirit! That was the only time I have been placed into what I now know as a full trance state, during which I was also shown how our soul decides where it is going in this life and how it chooses its parents - as they chose theirs. I was also shown how our life's experiences are the teachers of our souls. My painting is guided by a spirit artist called John who lived in London and died in the 1800's. Without John's help there is no painting and sometimes John will leave or step back for as long as six months. When John is working with me I am in an altered state, with a foot in both worlds. All my visions that materialize into finished paintings are for a purpose. There is a personal connection between every painting and the individual, which can relate strongly to the subject and the feelings that took place when it was created. It has been shown many times that people may feel spiritually uplifted, encouraged and gain a sense of well-being from Art. The realization of this soon made me want to experience the more spiritual as opposed to the materialistic side of life. Nowadays, nothing amazes me any more. When I paint, I don't need good lighting. Sometimes, spirit even wakes me in the middle of the night and I come down to my kitchen and paint until I am exhausted. All of the pictures come to me in dream state, visions or through my meditations. I now travel all over the UK giving demonstrations and talks and last year even toured Canada. But through all of this, I have still kept my day job as a builder, it helps to keep me grounded and with a foot in the more mundane, "real" world. I have worked for the same man on and off for the last 12 years and am only just feeling I can talk about 'how' I paint. I have produced a series of spiritually inspired paintings over the last four years and have come to realise that colour is a medicine ~ it helps us to harmonize with our natural rhythms and remedies and to become more balanced. The eyes which give us sight are a gateway to colour healing, which takes us back to nature because the colours of the oils on canvas are taken from the colours of the Earth. I still don't understand how or why I've been given this gift, but it is obvious that these were meant to be for all to see. This is why I share my Art with you. I hope my visions bring you inner fulfillment, happiness, love and light. The greatest discovery of all I have made is that we can alter our lives by altering our attitude of mind. But I am still learning.
