An Update from Sharyl
By Sharyl Jackson, Greetings Family of Light: I realize that it has been some time since I have written for this, our Indigo Kids section. It seems that, like many others, I have for several months been occupied with the mundane details of life and have very simply not felt much inspiration. I trust that this period of what I call "being in the void" is coming to an end. |

We are so very glad that you have found us! In the past few months, while we were under construction, I continued to receive a few letters from readers. Many ask the same question, "Please tell me what is an Indigo child?" What I have done to answer these readers is to copy my original article from a year ago entitled "Children of the New Earth." It has not always been easy to find, so I will give you the exact address: www.planetlightworker.com/articles/sharyljackson/article2.htm. You can also find this and other related articles by going into the archives and clicking on that first paragraph for a complete listing. The other thing I always do is to recommend the book "The Indigo Children" by Jan Tober and Lee Carroll. Though there are many others stepping into this arena regarding the new children, Jan and Lee continue to lead the way with this information. If you are not familiar with their work, please go to www.indigochild.com for a bit of information gathering. Lee has compiled a list of 10 attributes of the Indigo Child which you will find most helpful. Also, if you have not been to the kryon.com website (which is also Jan and Lee's) lately, you will thoroughly enjoy a most informative "Interview with Jan Tober" by Rick Martin. One way to find the interview is to go the Kryon site, click on "seminars" then click on "Indigos." Speaking of Jan and Lee, I was with them in July in Santa Fe at the Midsummer Light Conference, where they shared an Indigo question and answer session. They say that now 99% of the children born on the planet are Indigo. What does that tell you? It tells me that change is inevitable - from schools to style of parenting to what mainstream medicine has to say about all of this. I believe that as our vibration - and that of the planet - continues to increase, many of the so-called "problems" that SOME Indigos have experienced will simply melt away. However, their influence on the systems and structures of this planet will not go away. Blessed are these teachers, parents and kids who are making this transition from the old to the new. Not always easy or comfortable, often confusing, if not overwhelming. Thank you all! Jan and Lee emphasized the important aspects of parenting these days: offering choice, learning to negotiate, becoming best friends and always telling the truth. Indigos and their children have a passion for balance, and they will see the imbalance in another and will not want to be around it, whether it be in a teacher or neighbor. They will, however, crawl into bed with another child in the hospital to offer comfort and balance. At this same conference, someone in the audience mentioned the work of someone named Terry Friedman with regards to ADD. As I understand it, he has been working with Young Living Essential Oils and recommends 3 oils and 1 supplement. I do hope that I am remembering this correctly. The three oils are Valor, Brainpower and Clarity, and the supplement is Sulfurzyme with wolfberry. Another conference attendee said that they had successfully used frankincense. These oils can be found at custserve@youngliving.com. Once again I heard the praises of blue-green algae from Indigos themselves as well as parents. While in Santa Fe, I also met a delightful woman named June Maker who is a professor at the University of Arizona, College of Education, Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and School of Psychology. Dr. Maker is doing groundbreaking work with young children and has a book called, "Nurturing Giftedness in Young Children." Her website is www.arizona.edu/~discover One of my most exciting finds is a site with a veritable wealth of information regarding alternative types of schools and much, much more. They call themselves the Coalition for Self-Learning and have a book on-line available to all. To quote their introduction: "This book has been written by an ad hoc Coalition for Self-Learning. Most of us have never met one another face to face. We met on the internet on a listserv CCL-LLCs@onelist.Com. Our common interest was the future of learning, and the potential impact on society of the cooperative community life-long learning centers that are spontaneously emerging and self-organizing from the rapidly growing home schooling and other self-learning movements. This social phenomenon is spontaneously self-organizing without leadership, without planning, without design and without being noticed. It is a microcosm of the larger progressive, alternative and transformational movement(s) that are creating a transition from the Dominator Paradigm to a Gaian Paradigm. The transformation of the learning system is more than a related building block of the cultural transition. It is a fundamental foundation for a deep fundamental holistic cultural change." You can find the above site at www.creatinglearningcommunities.org Other new finds include: www.psykids.net, Psychic Kids Spiritual Experiences, by Llael Maffitt, a very talented young woman. She also hosts "Enchanted Forest Intuitive Camp" every summer. www.indigochild.net, an excellent new site by our friend Carolina Hehenkamp. If you are interested in an e-group, write to indigo-summer@egroups.com or e-mail Barb at 201abamabarb@zebra.net regarding her desire to organize a website network for and about Indigos. She is also interested in educational reform as well as summer camp programs for Indigos. One final site for those following the idea of giftedness. Check out www.megafoundation.org/GiftedLinks.html. We are looking for articles for this section, as well as anything you think would be of interest to others. Indigos, where are you? Let us hear from you! My friend Charlotte is an Indigo, and she tells me that she is tired of being talked about rather than talked to. I don't blame her! Indigos: write something, send something. The next step after "identification" must be happening, and we would love to know about it. Until next time, my blessings to all of you. Sharyl
