They tell us the colors and shapes flash and frolic around humans, animals, plants and inanimate objects. These children are very sincere about what they have seen. The pictures they draw to depict these visions of dancing shapes and glowing rainbows can be breathtaking. In metaphysical studies we call these colors around objects "auras."

Thanks to the studies with Kirlian photography, the scientific community is beginning cautiously to refer to these colorful displays as "electromagnetic fields." Based upon my own experience and years of study, these children have a natural talent to perceive tangible, viable levels of sight that every human is capable of developing.

I have always been able to perceive the energy fields emanated from all animate and inanimate objects. As a child, I thought that everyone could see what I did, so I didn't usually discuss this with anyone else. My mother discovered my visual ability when I was eight years old when I came home from school and expressed my concern because my teacher had remained a green color all day. This was unusual to me because I normally saw people flashing different colors.

My mother was an astrologer and herbalist and had studied the Edgar Cayce channelings, which spoke often of the human auras. She was able to give me an explanation of the event which had troubled me. Mother rationalized that my teacher must have been very absorbed and focused on her teaching ability that day, which allowed her to constantly vibrate the green ray of the color spectrum. She also cautioned me to be selective about who I discussed my ability with, since not everyone was able to see these colors. Thus began my life long studies in metaphysics. My mother made available to me every book, class and knowledgeable individual she could find in the field of metaphysics.

Human auras were becoming a popular topic in the 1960s. It was believed these fields of color were an expression of the mysterious life force that makes us human. I would try to explain to adults (not heeding my Mother's advice) that even a table or a chair would emit a field of energy that I could perceive with my eyes. This energy field would appear to me as a misty, white, narrow field around the inanimate object. Most adults, in those days, were very skeptical of my comments. Modern science, however, has discovered that molecules discharge an electrical pulse as they move about and collide with one another. Thus, even inanimate objects have the capacity to create minimal electromagnetic fields.

The auras around plant life have always enthralled me. One of the most breathtaking sights for me is to watch a grove of trees before and after a rainstorm. Their white, shimmering energy fields grow from an emanation of a few inches before the storm to several feet around the trees after the rainfall. Kirlian photography, which was developed by a Russian named Semyon Davidovich Kirlian who was an electrician and amateur photographer, has captured on film the electromagnetic fields expressed by plant life. An interesting book to read on this topic is called, "The Secret Life of Plants," by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird.

By the time I reached puberty my sight had grown more refined. Instead of seeing fields of rapidly flashing colors, I developed the capacity to perceive constant, specific rays of the color spectrum as they are expressed in the electromagnetic field. Different colors represent varying conditions of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states of an individual. I understood these rays of color as varying vibration levels of energy that correlate to the health or energetic condition being expressed by a person. The most helpful book I ever read on this topic is, "Hands of Light," by Barbara Ann Brennan. Colorful, detailed illustrations in this text accurately depict what I saw in the electromagnetic field that surrounds a human being.

Now, as an adult, I perceive another dimension or level of energy in these fields as "energy patterns." The energy is expressed in wavy, criss-crossing lines that will show distortions, rents and tears in the patterns, again correlating to the energetic condition of the individual. It is very much like watching heat waves rising from sun baked asphalt. Today, when people ask me what color their aura is, I have to consciously slow down my perception of the vibration levels of the energy in order to perceive them as colors instead of patterns.

Scientists admit that they do not yet fully understand the complex process our brain uses to interpret the messages our eyes send to it. Their physiological studies speak of rods and cones in our eyes transmitting light messages to the brain through our nervous system, using electrical impulses. Perhaps it is an evolutionary process of the development of these rods and cones that allows some people to perceive varying dimensions of expressed energy.

The metaphysical realm suggests various theories for the ability to perceive multiple energy dimensions through sight. Virginia Essene and Sheldon Nidle in their book, "You are Becoming a Galactic Human," suggest we are experiencing biological and spiritual evolution as a result of exposure to the photon belt. Genevieve Lewis Paulson in her book, "Kundalini and

the Chakras," suggests this extra sensory sight is made possible through auxiliary chakras located in the area of the brow chakra, or third eye.

In his book, "Walking Between the Worlds," Gregg Braden suggests that we are evolving by activating additional strands of DNA through the science of compassion.

My personal experience makes the perception of these varying vibration levels of energy an objective reality for me. The shapes, colors and patterns I see and interpret on a conscious level are consistent with what today's Indigo children are reporting to their parents and peers. I believe that our scientists will eventually find sufficient evidence to substantiate the subjective explanation of auras to the objective science of electromagnetic fields.
