February 2005

B Y  T O N Y  T O L I N

THIS MONTH we celebrate Saint Valentine's Day. February is a special month to celebrate the sacredness of love for ourselves and for our world. In honor of it, I am focusing on reviewing music that has to do with the subject of love. I hope you enjoy the beauty of these selections as much as I have. This would be a good month to do something wonderful for someone you love or for an organization that helps tsunami victims, animals or children. Remember the saying "pay it forward." Put yourself into action and try it out. Happy Valentine's Day!

Deep Within a Faërie Forest
Label: Sequoia Records

Once in a while a really bright gem comes our way and this NEW release shines brightly!

Yet another inspired Celtic release from Gary Stadler where he explores the fairy realm and brings it to full life in all its majesty.

Could we ask for a more perfect voice on this release? Wendy Rule has a breathtaking and unique voice sounding slightly like Belinda Carlisle. Wendy's breathy voice and vibrato is perfect for this fairy world music.

“Invocation” starts the CD with fairies appearing from the forest dancing in a circle singing the invocation song. “Dance of the Wild Faeries” is an upbeat song in celebration of the fairy dance. Hauntingly inviting songs like “Midwinter” and “Deep Within the Forest” are sure to warm your spirit. I love every song on this CD. It is truly a treasure to behold.

This is nothing less than exquisitely beautiful. It is a triumphant success for Gary Stadler and Wendy Rule. The fairy realm comes to life with this release! Lisa Lynne's magnificent harp playing adds to this magical creation. This is one of the best CD's I have heard in a long time. I am happy to have it in my collection!

If you love fairies and enchanting songs I highly recommend this CD.

Spirit of Love

Label: Spirit Singer Productions

This CD expresses a passion for life and is filled with love songs, chants, and creative music.

I knew the minute I held this CD in my hand I would love it! Well I was right! This CD spoke to my heart and I felt deeply moved. What a triumphant celebration of love and inspiration.

One song that shined brightly for me was “Heaven's Rain.” This joy-filled loving song really serenades the listener. It is filled with bells and harps which make sounds you might imagine stars would make in the heavens. Maya has an enchanting voice and Sage is absolute magic with his creative music. Other favorites were, “Ancestors' Breath," “Wild Companions,” and “Spirit of Love.” Folksy is the best way to describe this new release for Maya and Sage. This very diverse music uses keyboards, harmonica, guitar and harp with a hint of Indian chant that they make work well.

A light filled addition to add sparkle to your music collection!

I highly recommend this CD - 5 gold stars!

After the Storm

Label: Fireheart Music

My first thought after listening to this CD is what perfect dinner music!

Light the candles sit back and relax to this soothing music while having dinner or just taking time out for yourself next to the fireplace.

The first track “Tidal Wave” makes me feel like I am a little boy again dreaming about how my life might be in the future - truly a dreamer's theme. Other tracks that stood out were “Enchanted” and “The Dreamer's Waltz.” I can tell Jeffrey puts his soul into his music.

A work of art! If you like creative piano music then I recommend this NEW release from Jeffrey Michael.
