White Star Dream:
Birth of the White Dolphin

SINCE THE EARLY 90'S I have dreamt of the white dolphin...
and when I finally spotted it this year, it was not only a dream come true
but a confirmation that my spiritual journey was on track
...

I believe it is time to share these images with the world
and for everyone to tap into the messages of the dolphins.

THE FIRST TIME I SWAM with wild dolphins it took my breath away.  It still does. There are few words to describe the feeling of being in the vast blue ocean surrounded by a pod of these mystical beings – pure expansive feelings of deep unconditional love and joy.

In the early 90’s when I lived on the big island of Hawaii, I often heard about pods of spinner dolphins that regularly visited a bay down on the south side.  My first encounter with them was so overwhelming, so filled with immense love that I knew my life was about to change in a big way - and indeed it did.

One day early on, I remember attempting to swim out to sea to find the dolphins, when sudenly I received an intuitive message to swim to the right side of the bay and then back to shore.  I was puzzled by this initially, as I had seen them far out in the deep when I entered the water, but I listened and complied anyway.   A moment later, upon my reaching the shallow shore, there they were swimming below me.

Somehow in that early experience I knew that something magical was happening; that they were teaching me to listen to my inner God and to obey my sensings; they were honing my intuitive skills.  Over time I have learned to respect this guidance, and, as a result, know how to meet with them at sea, (and myself, when traversing the deeper waters of life's challenges).

Not long after my spiritual unfolding began, I started having vivid dreams of a sacred visitation by a beautiful white dolphin. The strange part for me was that I had never seen a white dolphin before - nor had anyone else that I knew.   Where was this white dolphin and what importance did it hold?  What did it mean?

Fast forward several years...

This summer while swimming with a large pod in the deep waters off Maui, my white dolphin dream became a reality. At first glance I felt elated, much like one does during a surprise visit by a dear old friend, followed by the recognition of what a great honor it was to share such a sacred connection to an obvious sentient being.

Immediately I noticed that the pod was very protective of the white dolphin - but several times it broke away from the others to swim nearby and acknowledge me. This provided an opportutnity to capture some beautiful photographs which I have shared below.

For the last four years living on the island of Maui, I have spent hundreds of hours in the ocean with the wild spinner dolphins, photographing them in their world.  They greet me when they hear me in the ocean, invite me to play their games with them, (one being the leaf game), and swim close to me as if I am part of their pod.  They allow me to take the most beautiful images of them, many of them being intimate portraits.

My journey with the dolphins has stimulated a deepening of my own awareness and connection to life and love. They constantly remind me that there are many answers we each have within us, and that together, as a pod, we will connect with our inner God - and, like our dolphin friends and guides, unite as ONE.

I hope you enjoy a glimpse beneath the surface...

This dolphin mom swam close by to show off her new baby.
In that split second I was gifted with a dynamic portrait
of the most playful, intelligent creature.

Dolphins are very synchronized
and often behave as one.
For the pairs I often witness together, I offer this poem:

"Soul to soul giving birth to light
and love, tenfold with every breath"...

I believe the images that I capture are messages for the world –
for everyone to interpret in their own way.

One of the things that I find amazing is when I am swimming alongside them,
I feel as if I'm interconnected with their natural energetic field...
and it feels like I am flying underwater.

While swimming
with the dolphins, I was told  to “dive deeper”
...and later that evening in meditation realized that
I needed to apply this guidance more personally, and "dive
deeper into my own soul and consciousness".

I have always known, even as a young child, that the only thing that was truly
important was the evolution of the soul  - and that has always been top priority
in my journey.  I always knew that there was more to life than what
we can only ‘see’. The white dolphin is a special guide in
my spiritual journey and I hope it finds a
special place in your heart too.

Now my passion has become my life, and my life my passion.
Traveling around the world to connect with all
dolphins is the next part of my journey.

Aloha and blessings,

~Helen

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Helen Kordyl has carried a deep love for the ocean since birth. In fact, she would have been born in the middle on the Indian Ocean on a cruise ship, if her mother had been allowed to reboard - but instead was grounded in England until Helen's birth took place. Years later, her mother would remind her that on the night of her birth the waves were crashing hard on those famous white cliffs of Dover.

Living on a rubber plantation, in what was then British-ruled Malaya, Helen dreamt of tropical islands and at age five declared she was one day going to live in Hawaii. Helen made that dream a reality and now lives on Maui where she has found her passion in swimming with and photographing wild dolphins.

Helen received a BA in visual arts in Sydney, Australia and has traveled extensively "around the work", living in Asia (Bali, Japan, Malaysia), Europe, Australia (Sydney and Perth) and the mainland USA (Taos, Sedona and Santa Barbara).
