Photography & Digital Art:
The World is not What it Seems

Sometimes to 'get' it - you can only 'feel' it.

...Look, and it can't be seen.
Listen, and it can't be heard.
Reach, and it can't be grasped.

I collect objects & characters & old toys to populate my Spiral Studio images
and as a whole they are to do with reflections on childhood past and the
passing of time which has a very melancholy significance to me.

Digital art lacks the kudos of purist photography and it can be hard to win people
over but I think it needs to be used for a reason and for me it is a vital tool ...

I am a photographer with the heart of a painter and only the digital medium
allows the control over manipulation that I need to express myself.

I do try to keep my language personal, the images are about my thoughts
reflections passions & frustrations and not just created for visual impact so I hope
it makes them reasonably individual ... but no one works in a vacuum
and I am influenced by many talented artists.

Form that includes all forms...
Image without an image...
Subtle, beyond all conception
...

It is always a pleasure to work in any way with people who are working for
the pleasure or passion of what they do ... really it is partly what I created
Spiral Studios for ... uncompromising, uncommercial, personal work.

Thank you for viewing.

In love,
~ Darren
