What
is a Lightworker? A Lightworker is one who goes within, finds the God-self, expresses love in all aspects of their life, and grows in the light by learning and doing. I have spent a great deal of my life searching for meaning and truth. Some of the places I've looked were filled with glorious love and purpose. Some of them showed a few sparks of light on occasion. Finally, others were totally devoid of anything I could find that legitimized their inclusion in the world of the metaphysical or spiritual. Although I have been disappointed at times with people, organizations, and circumstances, I have continued my quest for knowledge. Everyone has a personal truth. Growing up as the daughter of a minister, you can imagine what kind of truth I was exposed to. There was truth, but I realized at a young age that there was much hypocrisy in organized religion. Several times I left the church life and went on my own, but I was not searching for truth at that point, I was rebelling against the "establishment." As an adult, I have been through countless life experiences and realize now that we all have our own truth to speak. Each one of us finds truth in different areas of our lives. And when we find that truth, there is always an expansion to that truth to incorporate more truth, if we continue in the same open-minded direction. Then I found out about synchronicity. Synchronicity played a role in my life before I learned the concept, but when I became aware of it, it seemed everything had meaning and purpose. I noticed how things meshed and flowed and came together like drops of water in the ocean. There was magic and mysticism in my life and I wanted to experience the joy of discovering more of this new interlocking world. And then there were angels. Angels appeared all over the US, in the bookstores, in the novelty stores, in the clouds, on TV, and in my dreams. During sleep they brought me balls of brilliant light. At the birth of my children they stood by my side. And when I became reckless or ready for disaster, they whispered in my ear. And so the light followed me and I followed it until I finally decided to become part of its power. Producing light in my life has been a struggle, a challenge, a joy, an opportunity, a gift, and a blessing. Giving of my time, effort, money (when I have it), and talents has not only changed me in many ways, it has made me who I am. Being a Lightworker is a full time job. It is not a passing fancy or hobby. It IS a lifestyle. I am not only giving of myself to others; I am giving to myself. Studying, researching, meditating, praying, reading, experiencing, are all ways of becoming the Lightworker that you are. And then, finally knowing within my heart that I AM the light, I open to the feeling of ONENESS and let my heart fill to overflowing with warmth and love. When you work in the light, it becomes a joy and a pleasure and I intend to continue to pursue a greater understanding. I have had many moments of sorrow, frustration, and devastation, but the thing that keeps me functional is the Light that others share with me, and the light that demands to shine within me. Expressing the light is the "work" in Lightworker. So in some ways, it may be thought of more as a "Light Expressionist." Being in and of the light brings body, mind, and soul into alignment and preparation to do the work we were brought here to do. And when that alignment shows itself in great strength, our work shines of the glory of that spirit which encompasses us. The word "work" may not be an appropriate expression for this in some ways, because there is a certain amount of joy that accompanies assisting others in their path. Learning that others have needs, just as we do, is half the task of the "Lightworker." Upon discovering that we all are ONE, we can then move out into the world and approach each day with a new fervor. To me this is the joy that Lightwork is all about. ![]() ![]() Laura is currently a Web Designer/Developer for a Computer Consulting Agency in Overland Park, Kansas (near Kansas City)and runs her own Web Design Services (Angeljoy Publishing and The Outer Realm).
