Artist's Statement

My purpose is to create. In that process I find stillness and rhythm, my teacher and passion. I believe that art can be a life shaking experience, or an intimate rendezvous. For me it is both.

I place intention in what I create. Either through words, actions, thoughts, or artwork, I aim to share honesty and awakening. To celebrate this fantastic adventure. To inspire and be inspired.

I begin with planting seeds of ideas, and intuitively progress through the piece. I go on a journey with each painting; evolving together. I am constantly surprised and inspired by what is translated by my imagination and hands.

Thereafter, your story is whispered. A reflection of light and shadow of your human beauty, your geometric perfection, and your ancient divinity.

About the Artist

AUTUMN SKYE MORRISON was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia in June of 1983. Her childhood was scattered across Canada as her family gradually made their way west. It was enriching to see the country in such variety and detail. Her father settled in the small town of Field in the Yoho valley of the Rocky Mountains, and Columbia Lake. Her mother and stepfather built their home between Powell River and Lund on the Sunshine coast. Spending her seasons between the majesty of the mountains and the serenity of the ocean and lush forest, Skye developed a deep appreciation for beauty.

As soon as she was old enough to hold a pencil, she would spend countless hours playing with colours and figures. Since her childhood stick men she has been drawn to the human form, and to this day she strives to capture its life and essence.

Skye has traveled throughout North America, Mexico, and South East Asia, spellbound by unfamiliar landscapes and the cultures therein. Inspired, the impressions linger with her when she returns home. There she picks up her paints and brushes and merges emotion and colour.

In July 2005 she joined three partners and opened a music and arts cafe in Powell River, called Local Locos. It has become a community stronghold for creativity and self expression.

She lives and paints in her home North of Powell River, overlooking an sweeping expanse of ocean, island, mountains, and sky.
