WE'VE
WAITED FOR TWO YEARS, and finally it is here! The second installment
in Journey to the Wild Divine does not disappoint. I was in such a hurry
to "play" the game when it arrived that I didn't fully
read all instructions, and had a little difficulty navigating until I
took time to relax, breathe, and follow directions!
Wisdom Quest is visually stunning. It surpasses its predecessor in
detail and crispness, even though the first was a work of beauty. The
activities are spread out in several venues, but each has special features
that make it a pleasure to navigate. We are whisked from one place to
another by hot air balloon, or snowbird, or through a fabulous cave,
or winding over bridges on mountain roads lush with greenery or snow,
and entering buildings that are awesome. We have the accompaniment of
soothing music and chants, plus magical visual effects that are breathtaking.
In fact, there is so much to see that several trips are required just
to acclimate oneself to the surroundings.
Technically, Wisdom Quest has incorporated the best
from the first production and added elements that make the experience
much smoother. We now have a wand that also acts as a navigation tool,
and when it turns from blue to green, we are able to use it to gain
a 360 degree view of our
surroundings.
The team who put this together truly cared about the quality of the
visual experience, because it is beautiful. In addition, when one goes
to the map to see where they are in relation to other areas, you can
click on any area and be transported there – a very nice extra
feature if you don't want to go through the process of finding
your way. There is also an added navigational tool in the lower left
hand corner that shows where activities are in relation to where you
are on the journey. You can either use it or not – but it's
an extra feature that helps you not to miss opportunities. And finally,
one of the things I truly appreciated is the ability to choose the level
of activity difficulty. It spans from Extra Easy to Easy to Medium to
Hard to Very Hard. As a person with high blood pressure, if I wasn't
able to choose the easy setting, I would not have been able to complete
some of the tasks in order to complete the journey.
In Wisdom Quest, we are given much more in-depth training related to
meditation, breathing techniques, and spirituality. With the additional
input of Dean Ornish and Deepak Chopra, who act as wise teachers offering
sage advice, we can return again and again to hear what they have to
say.
In fact, it is important in this quest to experience certain activities
such as our visit to the Tree more than once as there are multiple teachings
connected to them, and you only receive all of them when you go back
repeatedly.
Wisdom Quest is much more about finding inner poise and recognizing
how we react to stimulus. The wonderful Tibetan guide from the first
game is with us again, waiting in the lower right hand corner for us
to click on his icon for advice throughout the exercises. We also have
the addition of a butterfly whose wings beat back and forth to give
us the tempo of breathing exercises, which is very helpful. There are
other characters who appear – and I probably could have done without
some – but this Quest offers something for everyone.
Since Wisdom Quest is a series of instructional activities that assist
us in knowing ourselves better and being aware of the impact we make
in life by the way we choose to view events, it may be somewhat disappointing
for those who want to play a structured
game of finding clues and reaching
a solution. There is a loose plot and things that must be collected
in order to open certain doors and complete the final tasks, but this
should not be viewed as a linear journey, rather it is one we can circle
back to again and again. As we incorporate what we learn on the journey
through the exercises and teachings, we recognize the quest to release
the Feminine from a long slumber as our goal, requiring each of us to
free Her through our everyday actions. Wisdom Quest teaches us what
that entails.
If there was a 5 Star rating system, I'd give
Wisdom Quest all five in spite of a few minor glitches. You will appreciate
the journey most as you view this as an experiential adventure in visual
beauty, mindfulness training, and spiritual awakening. It is an excellent
tool for helping us in playing the real game that we’re engaged
in every day... the one we call life!
