Winter Solstice brings pause for reflection

HOW COULD IT already be 2010! Does it seem to you that time is speeding up? While it may not be actually going faster, certainly our perception of time is changing as we work with grounding the new, higher frequencies pouring into our planet. During the Winter Solstice on December 21, as the sun entered Capricorn and joined the planet of transformation, Pluto, we were given an opportunity to pause, reflect, and realize which changes are currently needed in our lives.

Lunar eclipse precedes New Year, suggests dynamic changes will occur

A full moon lunar eclipse in Cancer on December 31 provides a glimpse into the energetic themes of the New Year. America certainly has the right President for our current times, because the theme is, in one word, “Change”! The main difference between 2009 and 2010 is that, while last year was characterized by much debate and planning, this year will be a time of dynamic action to bring profound changes about. This is true on a personal level as well as on a global and national level. Given that we are truly all One interconnected humanity, this eclipse takes us to a point of confrontation with our customary way of fulfilling our needs, bringing the realization that we can no longer simply look after “number one”; that we must act for the benefit of the whole.

New Year won't imply “green light” just yet; the past needs reviewing first

The New Year begins with both the planet of communications, Mercury, and the planet of action, Mars, in retrograde (apparent backward motion). Much that will be set in motion in the first three months of the year will need to be revised or redone entirely. Mercury stays retrograde in Capricorn until January 15, complicating travel plans, and urging us to spend time reviewing our systems and completing communications that began before December 26. Travel and business plans should be carefully reviewed and computers, phones, and vehicles will need updating, inspections or repairs. Being the planet of dynamic action, when Mars is retrograde, the effects are more serious or far-reaching. Retrograde in Leo from December 20 until March 10, Mars prompts us to review all of our creations; to look at what we have put in motion over the past two years and make decisions about what has worked and what hasn’t. This process provides invaluable insight to help us decide how we will move forward in the future. more...

Mixing the Mundane With the Magical

MIXING THE MUNDANE with the magical is the best way I can describe the Crystal Star Oracle outlook for January 2010. Taurus and the 6th House speak to your daily life with family and responsibilities while Neptune brings in the energy of dreams, ideals, and the mysterious unknown.

This could be a month when you can find spiritual fulfillment in meeting the daily challenges of life. It may not feel like it, but the daily grind of going to work, dealing with coworkers, coping with family issues and taking care of a home really are important spiritual activities. Some of the most spiritual people I know are people who have had the toughest life experiences, so I have come to believe that every thing we do every day has it’s own spiritual energy and purpose. Even the things that seem bad or hard are important because they help us practice our spiritual beliefs. It takes a lot of spiritual energy to do all live each day and face every challenge with a peaceful heart and a positive attitude.

So maybe this January, instead of making big New Year’s resolutions that may last only briefly, you could make a point of finding the blessings and wonders in your everyday life, look for the positives in others and find empathy for their life situations. Seek to be aware of the joy in your child’s laugh, the warmth of time spent with a good friend or family member, the kindness of a coworker, the release that comes after an argument or the unity of people pulling together during tough times. It will feed your spirit and strengthen bonds with those the people you care about. And you may find that by looking for the miracles and magic in the mundane world around you, you will grow spiritually and you will naturally make changes in your life that will reflect that growth. Achieving your goals may be far easier and the journey will be much more pleasant.

This month’s Color Therapy Card is Purple. Purple is a royal color, and a psychic color too. Use purple accents around your home this month to remind you of your spiritual connection to all things. Bringing some purple into your space will increase your abundance and stimulate your third eye activity to boost your intuition. Locate a purple light, or throw a purple scarf over a lamp shade to bring the psychic and spiritual energy of purple into your personal space. more...

Set your intention clearly for the coming year. See yourself as owning your power and being who you really are. You may not know what that looks like, or how you will get there. Doesn’t matter. Your intention is everything. A heartfelt prayer, along with a deep willingness to let it in, will show you the way.

In fact, the less of an idea we have of what ‘owning our power’ and ‘being who we really are’ looks like the better. We have so many false ideas and beliefs around what this is supposed to look like for us, that may be totally off track as far as our true self and highest potential is concerned. Oprah has this saying that I love “God has a bigger dream for you than you could ever possibly dream for yourself”. Our conceptions of what is possible for us are like glass ceilings bumping up against our heads, causing us to feel frustrated even whilst we are convinced we are striving to reach our greatest heights.
